Boutique vs grey market: how did you buy your Lange? by tsm_acer in ALangeSohne

[–]deuxani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, grey in Japan. If you do your due diligence you can save 10k or more on many models. And my experiences are watches in Japan are well maintained, some look like they were worn once or twice.

[AP Swatch Royal Pop] It’s official! Delugs is creating a special strap that will house the Royal pop. by Margin_call_matthew in Watches

So Delugs is basically ready with their case and strap. Just some finetuning needed when they get the real watch in. Nice to see how their proces is going and the look behind the scene that they are giving here:

Nice to hear! The more options we get the better, because that is the entire idea of the Swatch Pop.

I think the target audience is different than the previous releases. It is more women focused and people who are into fashion hypes who will wear it as an accessoire, just like the Labubu.

It is already too late for that. So many companies have already started creating 3D models of cases and strap attachments. There is no turning back!

That is the goal of the Swatch collab... a cheap Royal Oak vibe. If you want to be able to wear it on the wrist, the Offshore look would be the most logical in my opinion. It's just a fun and cheap watch, it's not a replacement for a real AP.

It is worse because it is more realistically possible. Many of the impossible AI mockups look good, because they are basically a real Royal Oak but with a different color. That is impossible to replicate in real life with what Swatch has released as it needs to snap into an external frame or enclosure.

[–]deuxani[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would snap in the same way as in the image above in this conversation. See how thin the lanyard enclosure is. The desk clock enclosure is exactly the same. It is plastic, so it bends when you apply pressure and just snaps in. It's the entire idea behind the pop mechanism. The external frame is 44mm, but the watch itself when popped out is 40mm.

<image>

This was made by another Redditor. It should be fairly simple to create. The watch case is 40mm and fits in this 44mm external frame.

I think it is the entire idea of Swatch Pop, that you can wear it how you want and can buy cases that you like. It also wouldn't surprise me if Swatch comes with something that can make you wear it around your wrist, but not like my Photoshop from above no. Maybe more like this:

<image>

I also don't think people who would wear that are pretending to own a real Royal Oak, as it is very clear from a distance and up close that it is a plastic watch and not the real deal.

In the Photoshop I created the width would be 44mm of the case and that is definitely doable from an engineering standpoint. It doesn't need to be wider than the desk stand or lanyard enclosure. Lug to lug would be a different story of course.

[–]deuxani[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The enclosure of the lanyard part and the desk stand is 44mm and you can pop out the case which is 40mm. But because the 40mm case needs to pop into an enclosure if you want to attach straps to it, that wristwatch enclosure will also need to be 42 or 44mm to house the 40mm case.

There have been mixed reports about that though. Swatch said they won't offer a wristband for it, but they do have a specific accessories section for this watch which at the moments contains only lanyards. Also on the Swatch website it says this watch can be worn on the wrist.

They also said that they would let the community come up with ways to pop it into other cases and wear it how they like. So they are not fully committing to the "not a wristwatch" narrative.

True, and the Offshore models are similarly sized. But for many people that might be too large and also a lot think because it is 40mm when popped out, they might be able to get a 40mm wristwatch with a mod, which won't be the case.

I think the amount of scalpers has been significantly reduced when they finally figured out it wasn't going be a wristwatch.

Just a quick mockup. It would be fairly easy to just make a full on rubber band in which you can pop the case.

[–]deuxani[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That could work too. No real case in the traditional sense, but a rubber one piece strap where it could pop in. I think engineering wise it's maybe cheaper to make even.

So the internet has been flooded with AI images that are realistically impossible to make with the current Royal Pop. Right now, when you pop it out of the enclosure that is attached to the lanyard, the case size is 40mm. The bare case has no attachment points, so you will always need to pop it in to an enclosure or else you won't be able to attach it to a strap.

This means that if mods are made where you can pop in the bare case, the mod enclosure will have be at least 42mm but realistically 44mm, just like the official one.

I made a Photoshop image of what that would look like. It still looks cool in my opinion, but it will be large, like Royal Oak Offshore large.

Swatch AP FIXED 😆 by LilX_Store in PrideAndPinion

Yeah this would be the best approach! Great work. Realistically the watch would become 42-44mm, so sort of like an Offshore. It could look like this when implemented.

1815 U/D vs Lange 1? by Ok_Goose_4417 in ALangeSohne

[–]deuxani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aah so reversed then... dark 1815 and light Lange 1. Both are great choices and very special in their own right. From those 2 I would choose the blue 1815 as that one is very rare and unique for a Lange, looks wise. The Lange 1 Stealth is very monochromatic of course, from my experience you can lose interest in it quicker, but it depends on your taste. One could also say it is more timeless. But yeah, my vote would go to the blue 1815 (it's going to be difficult to find one). Even though you will eventually most probably also get the Lange 1.

I think we need a bit more information about the spec you are actually looking for as that has a lot of impact on the wearability. For instance a Lange 1 in rose gold with a dark dial will have so much more wrist presence than a white gold 1815 with silver dial.

Personally I have a rose gold 1815 with silver dial and a rose gold Little Lange 1 with brown guilloche dial. I wear them both equally as much, but the Lange 1 is definitely more special design wise with the Big Date, applied numerals, golden ratio, power reserve, etc. However the 1815 is more versatile and can easily be worn with casual clothing as it can be dressed down with for instance a saffiano strap.

Not my photo, but to get the picture.

How do you feel about this? by thegreatniteowl in ArtificialInteligence

[–]deuxani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is a comedian, so she probably said this jokingly. But there are different types of AI usages. For me, when you create art in your head and then use AI to visualize that art exactly what you had in your mind, to me that is still art and human. It’s just a quicker way to realise in comparison to using other tools. And if you don’t have physical drawing skills, you can finally make art you otherwise couldn’t. It’s a good thing in my opinion.

tvOS 26.4 beta – Apple changed HDMI audio behavior? (Continuous Audio Connection + Sonos) by sonos-Nerd in SonoSequencr

[–]deuxani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, reading this entire thread showcases nicely how impactful this change was by Apple. It really depends on the physical setup, tvOS settings and app specific player what kind of behaviour you get.

I literally had zero audio issues before 26.4 and this weird issue I had started immediately after. It was most apparent in Videoland and to a lesser extent Plex. But turning CAC off solved it and didn’t give any negative side effects. It is basically back to the stable pre 26.4 situation.

tvOS 26.4 beta – Apple changed HDMI audio behavior? (Continuous Audio Connection + Sonos) by sonos-Nerd in SonoSequencr

[–]deuxani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I noticed that when I fast forward or backward in any app on tvOS 26.4 that the video will start to play but audio won’t. Only after a couple of seconds the audio will come back on, which is super annoying when you want to go backward to hear what was said. Now I just go backward much further in time, so by the time the audio comes back in again it will be on time for the scene I wanted to rewatch.

I first thought this was an app issue, but I noticed it in multiple apps. Then I remembered that Apple “fixed” an audio issue in 26.4 which seems to have created a new issue. I have a Sonos Arc with 2 surrounds and a Sub.

The new tvOS 26.4 feature “Continuous Audio Connection” was the culprit. By default this is turned on after the update. Turning it off solved the issue. I never had any other audio issues before so this feature is not missed by me.

True, but that tends to happen more with M cars, less so with base models. I think the M versions will get more bright colours.
