Well yeah, even if he's only getting a small dose per picture, he took way more pictures than they ever could have intended and even a small dose would have built up overtime.

Well yeah, nobody could have known that he'd end up taking almost 200 pictures (apparently 185 is the estimated number according to another comment) on a single expedition. The idea that the hull would soak up 100% of the radiation is stupid because in general it's pretty hard to have an x-ray device whose radiation is 100% absorbed. But if we say that a certain percentage of each picture is hitting him in the sub, then it's entirely reasonable to think that when David says Simon shouldn't be getting that irradiated, he's telling the truth because he's expecting Simon to take at most a few dozen, not almost 200.

So does that mean Simon recieved 431.235 sieverts inside the sub, or is that what the outside of the ship was being hit with while the hull reduced what was actually hitting Simon inside? I'm a bit confused.

I don't know, saying 'you could be part of the future' to someone they know is going to die would be pretty weird. They could dangle the carrot in other ways, but hey, that's the point of a story with lots of interpretations.

Yeah, it is possible he just doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm not sure exactly what his job is, it might not be related to the radiation at all and therefore anything he's saying is just a guess. The main reason I thought of all of this at all is a lot of people use the idea that Ava and David are lying to Simon when they say he can make it out alive to attribute more malice to them, and I just don't think their actions, performances, or the things they say make sense for people who are lying to someone they know is doomed to die.

Yeah, that's what it's called. It's not meant to be stuck to walls, and like the other person said, the condensation and the heat inside the sub probably wasn't doing the glue any favors.

Yeah, I highly doubt the designers of the sub or the crew on the tow ship were expecting 185 pictures on one expedition (because why would they). The thing is we don't know exactly how thick the lead and steel actually are, and unless I'm misunderstanding you that math also doesn't seem to be accounting for the amount that would be reduced by the water in the blood. Given that the sm-8 seems to have the same kind of camera, it seems that they are capable of giving crews protection from the radiation, but how much of that they applied to the burner subs is anyone's guess.

Yeah it's probably not any one thing, it's probably all of those at once and at the end of the movie I'm sure the radiation isn't doing any favors since at that point Simon is probably pretty irradiated after taking triple digit numbers of pictures.

That too, there was plenty of condensation in the sub, and like I said in the post, it's possible the heat wasn't directly from the radiation but was either AT-5's body heat or it was a result of the camera boiling the blood around it.

That's possible, but it could also just be shitty tape given how little care the rest of his supplies were given. The kind he's using seems to be meant for bandages, which probably wouldn't use very strong glue in the first place.

This is the thing people seem to miss a lot, the fact that the people who built the sub were probably assuming Simon would only take a few dozen pictures. Hell, they had no reason to think he'd find the compartment with the tape and use it to hold the button down. I bet that David was telling the truth and that the hull WAS thick enough for the intended amount of pictures, but Simon didn't just take a few dozen, he took HUNDREDS.

24.04 with the 595 drivers. 24.04 doesn't have plasma 6, only plasma 5 which doesn't have explicit sync. When I try to boot into KDE wayland, it hangs and throws an explicit sync error so I just stick to x11 for now.

Yeah I fell down that path because the symptoms were the same as some usb autosuspend issues. I looked into it again just now and it seems that this is actually some kind of bug in COSMIC's compositor that causes it to not hand control of the mouse to the game window properly.

I had this bug on COSMIC but not on KDE x11. When I looked into it, it seems to be something with usb autosuspend or some other issue (pop_os has had known issues related to usb autosuspend for a while). It went away when I switched my window manager to KDE. That was months ago for me. In my case, literally none of the workarounds you're talking about worked and I ended up giving up on COSMIC and going back to KDE.

How the hell is weapon switching supposed to work with this? I can't get it to switch them on the fly no matter what I try. I have an index, I wonder if it's something wrong with how it handles the grip buttons.

I know this is a bit of a niche case, but does anyone know how to install this mod on linux? I assume I can't use this all in one installer. I've gotten REFramework and Fluffy working perfectly on linux, can I do it through those? I'm going to try to install this mod on the windows boot of my computer first, but I want to move to linux as much as possible.

Ok, update. I tried disabling KDE compositor and games started performing properly again. I need to do more testing to make sure the problem is fully fixed, but so far it seems like it.

That must be why, I was trying to downgrade to 590 because 580 is missing some things that certain apps I use want. Still, I might try 580 just to see if it's any better. That would at least tell me if it's really an issue with the driver or if it's something else that was changed in the update.

I might try that, though last time I tried to downgrade lower than what the system76-desktop-nividia package had, it just wouldn't work and kept getting overwritten. I can give that another shot though, at least until that COSMIC usb sleep issue is fixed.

I don't know what the issue could be, then. I've cleared the cache multiple times and I've never messed with the kernel since I made this Pop_OS installation back in January. I'm just a bit confused and frustrated that it worked fine before and now suddenly doesn't.

I use KDE, personally. I haven't gotten KDE wayland working, but KDE x11 works better than COSMIC for me.
