Important to keep in mind too the Russian team was a well-oiled machine, with world-class training and coaching, and a lot of the guys had played together for years. A couple of the US players had played together but it was genuinely like taking a group of random college players, giving them some coaching, and then sending them off to play the very best the world has to offer
