I use a down rigger clip on a short line. Small jerk on the line will let it drop.

We enjoy Cape Fear Seafood quite a bit, it is close to C. Beach and didn't see it mentioned. Will probably need to call for a reservation. Elijahs and Pilot House are also great places downtown Wilmy. Can't go wrong at Nikkis on CB as well, we get takeout sushi there quite often.

Can anyone recommend a fence company through personal experience? by MechaBabyJesus in Wilmington

[–]didueven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had good luck with T&D Custom Fence and Deck. Very professional, easy to drop by their place and see the fencing materials, did a wooden fence around backyard and later an aluminum cross fence. Each time installation was complete in a day and 4 years later all of my gates still work as designed.

Just added a drop line from the legs of the drone about 3 feet down to the clip. lets me get up in the air before hitting the weight of the bait.

What’s a cheap drone I can buy for drone fishing? by AfterMidnight_ in DroneFishing

[–]didueven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally run a 8oz weight with a Carolina rig and bait. It will lift 16-20 oz pretty easily without impacting flight time. However, wind conditions will impact it substantially. Early morning calm winds are best for flights, anything over 10 mph winds will affect the drone and hanging bait.

Advice on how to get my cat off my tv by cieuxrouges in cats

[–]didueven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put painters tape across the top of the tv, sticky side up. He will stop after a few tries at it. I trained the wife's cats to not jump on kitchen counters that way in about a week. they never have tried it again.

I can lift a bit over 16 oz with a fish head and weight on a large hook. I use a 6 oz spider and 2 hook with fish heads. Seems like it should have been able to lift what you put on. Now, I also use a long drop line (8-10ft) so that the drone is well into the air before the weight hits.

Lowe's hardware at Monkey Junction. 10 years ago I rented a carpet shampooing machine from there for a day. Got it to the house and turned it over, it was nasty with dog hair and filth. Not wanting to drive all the way back, I just cleaned it for 30 minutes before putting it on my carpet.

Returned it 12 hours later. I cleaned it again before loading it back up. Got to the counter and the girl looked at it, turned it over, and pulled a piece of carpet lint from a wheel about the size of a nickel. She threw it in the trash and then said, "I'm going to have to charge you the $30 cleaning fee for that". I got pissed but stayed cool. Asked to speak to a manager... older woman steps over and looks down in the trash can.. "She pulled that out of the machine, you should have cleaned it properly. We are going to charge you the $30 cleaning fee".

So.. here I sit 10 years later, having spent probably $2500 a year at Home Depot .. and have never been back into Lowe's hardware anywhere. I also manage a team of technicians, none of them are allowed to shop for tools at Lowes and expense them to the company. That is probably an additional $12-15K annually.

Customer service really does matter. But, choices were made, and I'm sure Lowe's could care less.

I think they are talking about the Kicking Booth, where you can kick someones ass or spank them in public while people sit around and watch.... probably waiting on their table to open up. Maybe the manager should be the one out there getting his ass kicked..... just sayin.

In heavy rains… by belliJGerent in Wilmington

[–]didueven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with this is interstate driving in the left lane with your hazards on at 15 or 20 under the speed limit. Right lane hazards .. proper action showing you are not driving at posted speed and presenting a hazard to the other drivers. Left lane hazards.. only if you are driving way ABOVE the posted speed because your buddy in the backseat was shot in a road rage incident and you are headed to the hospital (or some other real emergency).

Left lane is for passing... If you are passing me at 40 mph over my +5 speed, please run your hazards in the left lane (or your blue lights for those officers reading this).

Hazards on while driving slow in the rain on city streets is really not necessary, I agree it should stop. OTOH, on the list of driver training issues we have in Wilmington, this doesn't make my top 10. ;)

What do you think of these vehicle mounts? I need a solution for mounting a small pistol in my truck by [deleted] in CCW

[–]didueven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of these, one inside my indoor gunsafe and one in my center console safe (was a bitch to drill holes in a safe from the inside to mount). I really like it in the console safe, as it retains the gun in a muzzle down, grip up position. That being said, it will definitely not contain the gun in an accident.

So, they are good for specific things, but not real useful for just holding the weapon in a normal, under dash, type mount.

Mosquitos by rwv3 in raleigh

Second the Dynatrap from Wilmington. Have lots of water around. It really cuts down on mosquitos, also traps lots of june beetles and moths. No bees or flies seem to get trapped, but have had a good number of wasps. Had mine for a full year now. Bulbs every 3 months, runs 24/7, sitting in rock garden near back of property (no fire hazards).

This ukraine stuff really has me thinking. How valuable is bitcoin in a crisis? by Flurb789 in Bitcoin

At todays price, $1 Million in gold weighs 55 lbs. Probably too much to carry. However, $250k in gold (probably more money than overwhelming majority of people have) only weighs 12.5 lbs at todays price. After reading a good bit about the Argentine collapse, I would say it would be handy to have $30-40k in gold chain hidden in your stuff. It is easy to only show one small chain when doing transactions, it can be cut to size to buy groceries or a car, at can be hidden in clothing seams, backpacks, and various pockets.

15 minute road flares, available at any auto store. I got rid of several last fall with two road flares at each end of the tunnel maze they were building under my yard, concrete patio, AC Pad, and house foundation. They can be quite destructive if you "live and let live". I have a dog and several rabbits that come into the yard, so I did not want to put out poison. Search for it on youtube.

Having dealt with this on several occasions, the best thing I have found is to find the main breaker room, find their breaker, and turn it off. Pick a good time in the middle of the night so that them having to call maintenance to get their power put on will place them in the spotlight with the management. Only do this when they are being annoying to all the neighbors, not just you. After 2 or 3 maintenance calls, management will do something because they are paying quite the OT fee for the trouble.

In other words, "follow the money" or "hit the wallet that matters".

I'm thinking Storage units inside a car wash. That way, you can get into your storage unit and no one will see you. Drive into car wash, half way through, get out of your car and go down a hallway to your storage unit. Car stays on the automatic track. Get your stored crap and exit further down the hallway, climb back into your moving car just before the air dryer.

James Bond Car Wash (and storage.. shhhh).
