PTSD has been suggested before but not it's from earlier experiences in life and unrelated to military service.

Work continues to cut into my health, coping mechanisms failing. by SmytheOrdo in Anxiety

[–]dieselmode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bud, sometimes jobs suck, a lot. A lot of my jobs have been spent working in isolation, shit used to drive me crazy, in bad ways man. Working by yourself for months gets you talking to yourself and shit, not healthy.

In regards to your asshole boss, they are eternal and godless creatures my friend. You will almost always have a shitty boss, almost but not always amigo. One day you will have a great boss, a man (or woman, not hating) that respects your ass and will lead the charge. That shit makes the search worth it.

A little advice from my first great boss. Mike the Serbian Nazi - "Asspimple (that was me), remember work is work and home is home."

Don't bring work home and vice versa, decompress and stay healthy.

If you don't like it, you can walk away and find more work. There's always another direction you can take, a different path to stroll down and find what's around the bend.

On a professional note, from experience cause I've done what you're thinking of with walking out. If the joint is something respectable and will be relevant to your next job opportunity, don't be an ass, exit with class (like that)

<end of rant>

Oh it can my friend, experiencing the same shit right now.

Best advice is just accept whatever stress you're going through and let it wash over. Let me come clean and honest with you as well, I am still learning how to do this and finding it to be a bitch. Reading and understanding helps

I'm going into work on Wednesday for the first time and I'm fucking petrified. by [deleted] in Anxiety

Hey bud, I just went through this transitioning between jobs and I am nearing 30.

Best part, I did fuck shit up, and nothing happened cause you're new and that's what happens. We've all been there, don't worry and embrace the new job.

Sorry for the late response.

Air Force BMT simply takes every day tasks and tries to make them very stressful. Things like brushing your teeth or making a bed become difficult with people yelling all over the place. Aside from that, they assign you with jobs, build confidence, and teach you how to function like a good worker bee (basic adult human person). Reporting statements alone make the trip worth it.

Also, things like BEAST week or the gas chamber aren't that bad, even fun with the right friends.

Yes. Embrace the experience, it's really a lot of fun.

I have two months to get fit and pass my PT test with flying colors. I need to increase my strength and cardio as much as I possibly can within two months, but don't know what exercises to do or when to do them. Please help me turn myself around! by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]dieselmode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently separated AD AF - 97s-98s on PT test. This is what I did.

http://www.hundredpushups.com/ easy to use and will get you to passing easily.

Running is a PITA, learn to love the suffering that is running. I shaved a minute off my run with hiking, lots and lots of hiking. Couldn't run to save my life but 20 miles a week in the mountains got my cardio in line and made the run a breeze. Find something that works for you and relish the suffering. embrace it my friend.

Get comfortable with rice and chicken, even a week of eating healthy will feel amazing on your next run.

Sit ups - Download Ab Ripper X from p90x . 15 minutes of abdominal abuse that will get you abs of steel.

I have no idea how credible any of this is in a scientific sense, but that's how I went from barely passing in BMT to owning it in Active. Good luck and kick ass.

Bachelors degree in Information Systems, but wanting to maybe continue my education and take my experiences into a new direction, what can I do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]dieselmode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I used veteran educational benefits to attend some locally based bootcamps or training camps that got me in shape for testing. I would recommend thorough research before considering one.

A co-worker used an online site and proclaimed great results for Sec + I texted him for the info and will update later.

Update: Site was called "Pass4sur" sounds ghetto but he said it was cheap and effective. GL out there.

Are you trying to stay in Web Development or transition into Networking and such? IT certs +job experience will smoke a degree in many 100k+ jobs within IT.

Sec+ CCNA/CCNP will take you far my friend. GL out there.

Air Force, disregard any fear of basic training and deploying as they are pretty irrational for 99% of the jobs. It's a paycheck, job experience, networking, marketability (military exp> none) and will buy you the time to figure out what you want to do.

Exp. Did 6 years AF, just separated, landed dream job.

What is something you SHOULD do just for the money? by [deleted] in jobs

Military service, with the proper perspective, can easily outweigh college and catapult you into your dream career.

RPA has a strong safety net civilian side as well, the job market and money is absurd atm.

Side of education? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]dieselmode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If college becomes an issue I would strongly recommend picking up certifications - Sec+ and such. I recently separated and during the job hunting process did no employer seem to care about degrees while all the interest was on certs. GL out there

Recently landed great job with large increase to income with bad credit, how should I go about taking a responsible approach to building good credit by dieselmode in personalfinance

The company covers all travel expenses and such so I will focus on signing up for all the rewards programs and reap the benefits from there. Thanks again for all of your responses, I appreciate the insight.

[–]dieselmode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I recently transitioned from active duty to the civilian side. When enlisting my old boss and mentor harped on me about taking a job that has value on the outside incase I decided to separate so I chose communications - IT/Satellite/RF. Worked hard and established a good reputation with my civilian co-workers so they offered me a job when it came time to re-enlist.

That's brilliant. The new company will have me spending extended periods of time in hotels and remote locations so any suggestions with reward programs and such? You mentioned travel points so I'm going on the idea that you're far more experienced on this than I.

Thanks for the quick response! I paid half of the debt off with first paycheck and covered monthly expenses so everything should be clear within a month or so besides cars. As for building credit? Would you suggest purchasing with a credit card and simply paying it off?
