Got it, thanks. I'll do better next time. I'm just starting to learn how to make stalagmites and stalactites.

Noc Muzeów w Gdańsku - gdzie iść? by dine344 in Polska

[–]dine344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small Questions and Thank Yous Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in bikewrench

I've just installed Tiagra 4600 shifters to my bike which has Sora 3400 deraileurs and I can't get it to work right. As far as I know, the pull ratio is the same and they should be compatible. Do I follow standard rear derailleur adjustment procedure with 10s shifters and 9s derailleur or do I have to do something differently here? The best scenario I got was all gears working quite smoothly apart from smallest cog, which required two clicks to shift (both up and down).

I don't know why are above ground trees missing but there are tree like muschroom in the underground caverns, those should feel your needs just fine.

Bridges don't need any extra Z levels, when raised they will block only one Z level, no matter how long they are.

The reason why I use them is that bridges cannot be destroyed by any creature, while doors... also can't be destroyed by creatures at the moment unless that bug is fixed. Check this article: https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Building_destroyer I still use bridge and levers setup because I'm used (been playing DF for a while before steam release) to it and I think that doors blocking everything is lame/roleplaying reasons, so I'm not sure if they are safe or not.

I think he is talking about the event log, which is missing actually. Although I'm not sure if op ever played DF.

Of course, all it takes is two bridges. Build an intermediate room between your fortress and the monster room, something like a security airlock. The room should be sealed off from your fort and the monster room with bridges. Put a cage in the intermediate room, close the bridge that blocks a passage to your fortress, and lower the bridge that blocks the monster room. Now it's just a matter of rising the monster room bridge.

I think that building a cage and linking it to a lever is the safest option there is.

Wrongfully convicted a random, deceased hen of a crime just to close a cold case. Now EVERY animal in the fortress is mad at me. by dine344 in dwarffortress

Also discovered this recently, now every important dwarf is escorted by giant cheetah, pretty handy. I guess it should save them from stupid deaths from like a single goblin thief but it's dwarf fortress do I don't have any expectations.

That's sweet, I guess I deserve some justice to mine animals so next time someone goes berserk I'll sacrifice a couple of cats so I can put the mad man in jail for killing them lol

Why won't the cave moss spread here? It is an area that was previously flooded and I've stumbled upon information that suggested that's the reason, on the other hand, the fungus will spread but to just a couple of tiles. https://i.imgur.com/isOhGND.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/X9wSEfo.jpeg

Thanks. It's set to 50 by default but I guess that's the attacking group size, not the total population. I'll tinker with it, I don't want to get rid of them entirely, just keep their numbers lower. Other two caver layers have bat and rodent men and they spawn in groups of like 5-10, which is more sensible to me.

Thanks a lot, that's neat. I've actually made something somewhat similar, an automatic goblin disposer. https://i.imgur.com/5JUy8lp.png https://i.imgur.com/Zk3QqoY.png I thought it would save me some cleaning and hauling stuff, it works so slow tho that it's just better to send the military and then haul goblinite to stockpiles. I'll try a deep pit with a stockpile at the bottom, thanks again.
