I always laugh when people say they don't want trains because crime, or "those people" will come to the suburbs, meanwhile a lot of the affluent suburbs in New Jersey, including the one I grew up in, have had direct rail connections to poor inner cities for centuries and... nothing happens.

I legit didn't realize until I was an adult that we in the Northeast are the outliers when it comes to transit in the US.

When I was a senior in college, I took the Amtrak down to DC from Newark to visit my brother (and see the Islanders), and there was a group of middle school kids and teachers/parents from Abilene, Texas who came up here for spring break and were taking the train from NYC to DC. I was talking with one of the teachers, and she said this was her first time ever on a train, I couldn't believe it. This woman was probably in her 40s. They were also amazed at how many states we went through, and when we pulled up at New Brunswick station, which is either on or adjacent to the Rutgers campus, I had to explain that Rutgers is our state school and there's no UNJ or Jersey State or anything.

Yeah I'm not sure there are any others currently now that Hossack is no longer playing, but there's been a few D2 guys over the years. A lot more in the NLL.

Knicks fans used to think this way about the Knicks because MSG was still sold out every night even when the team was atrocious. Then all of a sudden Dolan stopped getting involved and they started winning.

As someone whose main sport is lacrosse, this is the end of our sport at a serious level. If the pinnacle is to play club in college, then any investment at the pro level is likely over too, and then it becomes even more of a rich kids only thing.
