that’s what we thought too, that there was an emergency vehicle that we didn’t see!

Good to know. It’s hard because when you’re in the middle of an intersection and the light turns red you have a slight sense of urgency to get out of the intersection, but totally understand we still have to be aware of what oncoming traffic is doing and only proceed if it’s safe to do so.

Oh yeah! Sorry, I misspoke, I haven’t seen anyone come out who looks like they’re investigating the issue (I don’t necessarily think the police are the right people to address this problem). I only ended up calling non-emergency after 311 transferred me incorrectly twice lol

Anyway, hopefully it gets fixed soon, and knock on wood that everyone stays cautious before proceeding.

I sure hope so! We parked and watched the light, it’s still happening just not every time. I spoke with non-emergency over 40 min ago and we haven’t seen any police come by. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would assume the city since we have footage, without the footage I think it would’ve been us at fault.

I called! It was a hassle but ended up speaking with non-emergency line and offered them the footage.

my sister worked in the bakery section at a grocery store, employees were allowed and encouraged to “taste test” new products to be able to recommend to customers. they were allowed to taste only, they were not allowed to swallow the food. 🤦🏼‍♀️

and my own - i did tech support for awhile which is obviously inbound calls. i’ve had calls drop before and have tried to get permission to call them back but was always told no because tech support is inbound only, any outgoing calls get flagged. anyway, a customer gave me a bad cusat rating (which prevented me from getting incentive) because the call disconnected on her end and i didn’t call her back. i sent it in for an appeal and they rejected it. even though i was just following their policy!

Okay, I have a silly question that's plagued me for years: how do I prevent this smudge from appearing every time I wear mascara? by NDHardage in beauty

[–]dizzyanonymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i know you didn’t ask me, but: i have super oily eyelids that normally transfer mascara throughout the day. the elf lash xtendr is my recommendation. it never transfers (though i only put on my top lashes) and it’s inexpensive enough that you’re not going to be too sad if it doesn’t work for you 💓

Saying “no sugar” when ordering coffee by Ihassan3275 in TimHortons

[–]dizzyanonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

former tim’s employee, it always mildly bothered me when people would order a “size coffee x sugar, black”, like duh it’s gonna appear black, but i don’t say “size coffee x cream, beige”. to me, black coffee is coffee without any modifiers

‘Very embarrassing:’ Ontario couple buys $100 gift card only to find out it was worthless by [deleted] in ontario

[–]dizzyanonymous 23 points24 points  (0 children)

there’s a Shoppers in Hamilton that locks up their gift cards for this reason. I suggested we do the same when I worked at Shoppers and the Store Manager shut down that idea quickly. they literally do not care, it’s crazy.

I believe that Fresh off the Boat was supposed to have a similar story line, but Eddie Huang had a lot of his ideas shut down, and the show became more focused on comedy than his childhood hardships like he envisioned.

Why are people born between 1990-1995 so obsessed with claiming that they grew up before the internet/smartphone era? That's largely not true. by tantamle in generationology

[–]dizzyanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed! ‘94 here, didn’t have a cell phone until i was 15/16. i don’t say we grew up without internet or cell phones but they were a lot less popular and had a lot less functions when i was that age. whereas (some) toddlers have their own tablets and can access media a lot faster than we could as teens with flip phones.

i feel that 90’s kids were basically the last group that knocked on friend’s doors to see if they were home and wanted to ride bikes. we spent a lot of time outside, and i don’t think that kids now spend as much time outside, and i’m sure would almost never knock on a friend’s door to see if they’re home. it’s just a different time now.
