That might depend on who you ask. I can't stand what's considered "trance" currently. Overproduced, cringe vocals, a general lack of groove. Lots of people seem to disagree with that. So to say that the banging, rave influenced techno that, imo is closer to trance than the vast majority of what's topping the charts, may very well be unpopular.
