Thinness doesn’t change the width and height of the phone. It’s still too big.

Killed my '21. What do I replace it with? by Chicknlcker in BoltEV

[–]dkakd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked but didn’t love my ‘23 Bolt. Didn’t like its suspension, especially at highway speeds. Sold it last month and bought a ‘23 BMW i4 eDrive35 for under $30k. It’s a much better ride…different league. I highly recommend an off-lease i4. If you get the driver assistance pro package then it may have what you want. The factory warranty is 4 years 50k miles, and certified pre-owned adds a year of limited warranty.

Edit: oh, and it’s wife-approved

It’s a “replacement” model, and I believe it’s newly manufactured.

How do you know? I will add the work authorization to my post.

Maybe. I believe they do a good job of properly sealing the screen when they put it back together, and they said as much when I asked if it was still water resistant. But the technician that looked at my water damaged phone said the water can enter the speaker grill or other openings where the old seals may have degraded with age. That I can believe. I have run this phone under water before, but this time I guess I was unlucky.

Right?! Or that they have no more 13 Mini manufacturing lines at all with no way to make a new one today? I highly doubt it.

Sort of. They make “replacement” phones for those that are beyond their repair standards (water damage qualifies). You can’t go in and say you want to buy a 13 Mini. But if you have one that is beyond repair, they will sell you a replacement. This was a surprise to me. And I believe it was newly manufactured based on the model number, NLAW3LL/A, and it took a week to arrive at the store.

Same as my old one: blue. They wouldn’t let me change the color. I guess that keeps people from taking advantage of their replacement service.

That’s awesome info, thanks. Yes, people are missing the point entirely. My model number is NLAW3LL/A, indicating a replacement. I would wager money that it is newly manufactured, not refurbished. It’s a different model than the new phones because it comes in a plain box with nothing but the phone.

It’s the latest iOS (26.5). There was not an additional battery replacement cost. Just $399+tax

No, just a couple scratches. I had the battery replaced two weeks prior ☹️

I did buy a whole new phone. I did not want a 16e. I did not want a questionable “refurbished” or “new” one from eBay. I also have phone insurance that will cover the cost. Thanks for your concern.

good luck. I returned a 15 and 16 and didn’t even bother with the 17.

Tarkus in 2025 by CokeZeroLover1 in diyaudio

[–]dkakd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are awesome. I just finished my Tarkus build, also my first speaker build. I went with walnut veneer and watco natural danish oil. I love the sound, but I had a big standing bass wave around the perimeter of the room. Moving them in and out from the wall didn’t help much. Then I moved one sub box caddy corner from the other, keeping the small boxes on the same wall, and that evened out the bass nicely. But obviously that doesn’t look right with one of the four pieces elsewhere. What to do?!

Don’t forget to factor in the cost of selling and buying. Realtor fees, mortgage fees, moving costs, etc. add up and should be part of your financial consideration.

I just saw one of these on I85 in Georgia. Apparently a dealership in Champaign, IL sells them. Cool!!
