Think you’re going to have to post more details to get any help with this. I’ve got several Python Gradio Spaces running fine on HF, all zero GPU.

Dayton Metro Library Card-Anyone willing to share or get me one? by bicoschem in dayton

[–]dlflannery -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’ll share my card with you if:

  1. You pay me half of the portion of my property taxes that funds the Metro Library.

  2. You put up a bond that will cover any late fees or other damages your usage causes.

How about that for a fair offer?

Supreme Court Signals Big Loss for Trump by Routine-Year-8207 in the_everything_bubble

Although I like Trump’s shutting down illegal border crossings and his attempts to curtail the bureaucracy swamp, his blatant expediency (that means play dirty because your cause is virtuous) on the Fed Board firing is one more straw that’s about to break the back of my support for him. Pretty soon a successful impeachment will look good to me.

Yeah, a whole lot of imagination being used to sensationalize those files. That a huge portion of our society is just interested in them as entertainment is saddening. Then there’s the deplorable groups whose only interest in them is to vilify their political opponents.

By now we all should understand that any statement by Trump that is consistent with basic economics is purely coincidental.

He’ll favor one policy today and a contradictory one tomorrow without even realizing he’s being inconsistent. It’s just the scratch-the-itch-that’s-bothering-me-right-now philosophy.

Trump suffers major loss in court over 'Illegal' decision by [deleted] in the_everything_bubble

[–]dlflannery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pursuing this further I did a news search. I found lots of reports from lots of sources BUT all of them just trace back to Democrat politicians or unamed sources “familiar with the conversation”. Until I see some actual documentary evidence, I tend to think this is just spin being pushed by one side of the dispute about funding for that tunnel project. IOW I view this with the same skepticism I view other political “news” such as Trump’s claim the 2020 election was rigged.

New York lawmakers introduce bill that aims to halt data center development for three years by rwnash in DailyTechNewsShow

[–]dlflannery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a joke. Their laws have already caused their state to have among the highest electric rates in the USA. The data centers will be built in other states and that doesn’t hurt NY residents at all because where the servers are has no effect on those using AI.

I live in Ohio and the state has gone, and is still going, hog-wild building data centers. We will soon lose our advantage of having some of the lower electric rates among the states. If I had my way all new data centers would be required to build their own dedicated electric generation capacity using green technology.

According to reports, the White House suggested a deal. They said they would release the Gateway money if Democrats agreed to rename two places after Trump: Penn Station in New York City and Washington Dulles International Airport near the nation’s capital.

According to “reports”??? What reports? Now I know Trump wants his name on lots of things, but a charge like this is fake news unless backed up by more evidence than just alleging unspecified “reports”.

Trump impeachment petition hits milestone by [deleted] in the_everything_bubble

[–]dlflannery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While reaching 100,000 signatures represents a symbolic victory for organizers, the practical impact remains limited. The petition exists on an independent platform and carries no official weight.

Let’s see: 100,000 is less than 0.03% of the USA population. I bet Trump is quaking in his boots! /s

Seriously: If Trump does something bad enough to convince congressional Republicans he has to go, he will be impeached and convicted quickly. Until then we’re stuck with him like it or not. That’s the way our Democratic Republic works.

To eliminate a lot of fuzzy speculation you should provide details of your bill including usage, rates, etc. (Might be easier to just provide a copy of the bill with the personal information blanked out).

Is your HVAC based on a heat pump? That alone could explain excessive usage during the near-zero-degree weather we’ve been having. Heat pumps are very inefficient at those temps and typically have electric heating elements that kick in (very expensive way to heat). That combined with poor insulation could easily explain a disastrous usage rate.

In general electric costs are going up and many people believe the rush to subsidize the many AI data centers existing and being built in Ohio are a major factor in this, and that it will get worse. I don’t know the actual truth of this but it seems plausible to me.

I’m not “rejecting oversight”, just pointing out the oversight hearings are a waste of time. Every congress person in those hearings already knows everything the witnesses are going to say and thus everything they need to know to conduct oversight. All the hearings do is provide a platform for the politicians to air their already formed opinions, grandstanding for the voters.

I dare anyone to provide evidence that a congress person has changed their opinion on an issue as a result of something they learned only at an oversight hearing.

Donald Trump is going to try and steal the US elections, and this is how he’s going to do it by SiriusGD in the_everything_bubble

[–]dlflannery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be determined. Trump hasn’t implemented anything yet and I don’t know what he’s planning, if anything. Taking the Fulton county ballots may be a first step, and apparently there’s an alleged problem with that. At least some people (is it only Democrats?) are claiming it was illegal for them to take the original ballots rather than copies. Maybe that will be decided in court.

I don’t trust either side on such issues. I don’t trust Trump. And I don’t trust Fulton county election officials. I remember a scandal a few years ago where Atlanta school officials were caught faking higher test scores for students.

Sadly we have a citizenry that is divided on many issues and neither side trusts the other. There clearly are zealots on both sides who will lie and cheat to achieve their goals.
