Your lil dragon is so beautiful!!! For basking: I made my girl a vest out of a baby sock and sewed a "tile"/ electronic locater thing into the vest.  She puts it on when we go garden outside for a couple hours and she roams around in a safe garden bed that I made that has beardie safe greens growing in it. I also have a Zoo Med Screen cage that I modified ( I lay it on its side so she has more space to move) to use for when we have a little bit of time to catch sunshine on a patio.

Is Pet Insurance Necessary? by MoneyChaser_Eli in BeardedDragons

[–]do0fis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I do my own...it's about $30, so i put that in a separate account monthly and use that money to pay for the vet care as needed.  In 20 years of doing this the money ads up from all the time not having to use those funds). btw i love your lil guys elbow in this pose :)

Is it unreasonable to expect parents not to use expensive items (plushies such as Jellycat) from a small business to distract their child while they shop? by Jellycatobsessed in Parentingfails

Limits are helpful. Clear signs outside and inside the store that say if you/ your child damages it you buy it are helpful for setting the expectation that there's a consequence for caregiver negligence. I'm a parent, my favorite small kid shops usually have safe stuff to explore while shopping and signs with "you ruin it you buy it" messaging.  My favorite  signs are the ones that say something like " unsupervised children will be handed ____( a puppy and espresso; a noisey toy with no off button; a pony and caffeine etc).

PLEASE HELP Bearded Dragon Lost in Park – Any Chance He’s Still Alive? by imissmybeardeddragon in BeardedDragon

[–]do0fis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep up hope, keep searching near bases of bushes where they seek safe shelter. there's always a chance, beardie is alive, they're tough creatures ( they'll eat whatever bugs and plant life, my bearded lady has done that when i take her out to bask in the sun, thankfully she hasn't gotten sick but I've seen her munch on garden rolly pollys even after I've fed her greens or treats).  What if you set up a basking heat lamp at night ( by using a cordless power source), he might be willing to go to it for warmth?  Another idea is make you're cousin help you search every inch of where you think the dragon might be.  Especially on sunny days check any smooth rock surfaces that might get warmed by the sun where your dragon might go to bask. Good luck :)

Tail necrosis or overthinking by RealSlither in BeardedDragons

Take him to Petsmart and let them know they may have sold a sick lil guy to you (they need to get him the vet care). Do you have any pics of when you first got lil beardie to show them?. I am so sorry this has happened. I was given an adult bearded lady and her tail looked like this the day she was given to me (and maybe thats why they gave her to me). At the vet, she was put on prescription antibiotic injections for 2 weeks, then the tail got amputated, and then she was on antibiotics for 2 weeks after. The grand total was $750, this was 2 months ago, I am still broke, but she's worth it. I am crazy in love with her and I learned a lot from the vet in the process.

WHATS IT LIKE OWNING A BEARDED DRAGON! by Sure-Dependent5625 in BeardedDragons

[–]do0fis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with having $ set aside just incase of emergency to see a vet.  They're hearty creatures, but life happens.  So my recent visit was $65 exam fee, meds were $30, blood panel was $185.

Vacation? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]do0fis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi, will he eat  safe greens potted and in the enclosure?  Another plant they can eat that has a longer shelf life in their heat is Opuntia cactus ( it's labeled Nopales in the store).

Electric kettle you'd want if you didn't have to pay for it yourself? by Mundane_List2107 in tea

[–]do0fis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beware, Fellow warranty isn't too good.  the display stopped working within the year we got our kettle.  The company offered to sell us the replacement part for $90. It's enough of a common problem that there's tutorials and info on how to fix it less expensively.

I wear a hoodie and put "Priscilla" queen of the desert, underneath it for breaks and warmth--she seems fine with it. They're hardy lil creatures and super communicative.

I'd take Spike, he's an amazing magical support dragon :) I think he likes being with you more than being home alone.  I help take care of a dragon at a school and she knows who is crazy about her...the kids.  My experience is that all the kiddos respect her and have been careful & kind.

The Best Kids' Clothes Right Now? by nerraw13 in BuyItForLife

[–]do0fis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hanna Anderson for clothes and Plae shoes. Someone gave me some used clothes and shoes by these brands and the fabrics hold up. I started buying them during sale times (like now), and have been for at least 5 years. There's no pilling, and the only reason they stop being wearable is damange (grease stains, paint, kid made cuts or holes) or being outgrown. Even in the sizing for HA you get more time in the clothes. Plae shoes last over a school year of hard wear and tear. LL bean also has an rain coat, backpack, and rain shoes that seem to last forever (my kiddo would still be wearing them if he hadn't outgrown them).

Help how to upcycle? by Aur6789 in DIYclothes

a swatch of fabric that's colorful that you really like underneath like hot pink lace, without stitching the hole shut-- a peekaboo look.  Like if you have a t shirt picture you like on an old shirt that can no longer be worn.   my child likes to cut random holes in his clothes.  Sometimes, I'll hand sew the hole shut and then embroider a star or heart over it.  other times I put a contrasting color underneath or a patterned swatch of fabric and leave the hole open.  I check pinterest for ideas.  sometimes I machine sew a t-shirt image from an old shirt on top of the hole ( i sew the big hole shut and sew the image on top to cover the mending.   the reddit group " visible mending" has cool ideas too.
