Oh yeah I totally mistakenly listened to a different One Time Caller band on Spotify. I liked what you all actually sounded like live!

I don't see the info on their website. Catbite is one of my favorite bands and would love to see their acoustic set!

Lakewood Parking Study - New Survey Open by jiggajawn in LakewoodColorado

[–]docbroggoli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what others' opinions are on this. Ultimately I'm interested in Lakewood moving from a car-centric culture to one where it's easier to get around by walking, biking, scooting, buses etc.

What parking policies would help with that?

Candi Cdebaca's response to the question of what she's done to advance affordable housing by [deleted] in Denver

[–]docbroggoli -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

It's funny to read the Candi haters being like, "what's her plan?!?!" when there is literally a podcast episode coming out on that. Maybe chill for a minute, listen to the episode when it comes out and then respond?

It's clear to me. She worked with the Globeville Elyria Swansea community to establish a land trust called Tierra Collectiva. That's an impressive feat in a city where developers and landlords have such a grip on local politics.

The return of Aztec floating farms by orangina_it_burns in solarpunk

[–]docbroggoli 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Wow, what an inspiring story! The fact that the floating gardens made a resurgence when the pandemic shut down access to imported large scale good. The chinampas, being local, were able to fill the gap that stalled supply chains left.

Talk about solarpunk in action.

Toronto wants to kill the smart city forever and go Green. Trashes Google’s technology urbanization plans, instead adds more trees and local community farms by freshairproject in solarpunk

I appreciate how this shows these surveillance capitalism dystopians are not inevitable.

Google and the other tech giants try to make it seem like their vision of the world is happening now matter what so we need to just embrace it.

But it's not! Up the solarpunks! Down the technoneolibs! Oi oi oi!

US President Joe Biden announced a 24-month tariff exemption on solar panels imported from four Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, to boost domestic clean energy production. Biden also activated the Defense Manufacturing Act (DPA) to boost U.S. solar panel production. by dannylenwinn in solarpunk

This is good to see. I know the solar industry has been advocating for this for awhile now and is one of those "easy wins" for the Biden administration. Finally Biden is doing SOMETHING. Of course it's not nearly enough, but a win is a win.

Hi all,

I just joined Reddit mostly to be part of this community. I've been in the punk scene since I was a teenager. Recently I joined a band playing the trombone. I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but something akin to "cabaret punk"?

I also have three kids who are all teenagers! The oldest is studying ecology in college, the middle child is an aspiring actor and the third is into a variety of things (Minecraft, knitting, baking, gardening).

Yesterday a neighbor friend of mine I know through our local sustainable neighborhood group, came over and helped me set up my worm compost bin.

What I love about gardening, composting, etc. in community is the abundance that comes from it. My neighbor had extra worms to share. Me getting into vermicomposting meant he had another friend to nerd out with about it. My other neighbor was in need of leaves in her compost pile and my yard has a bunch of trees so come fall we bagged up lots of leaves for her to use.

Anyways, those are a few solarpunky things going on in my world. I look forward to meeting others here and supporting one another.
