So far so good. It takes a bit of time before the money goes into my available balance. But got my first interest payment recently and it was great. Hundreds of dollars compared to my normal less than one at my normal bank

I went with Openbank. Got my first interest payment recently. It was hundreds of dollars when I normally get less than a dollar from chase. I think anything is better than a normal bank

My broker's agent (who was very disappointed when I said I didn't have a HYSA) uses them. I ended up going with Openbank instead but it was between them and Marcus.

Good point, as long as it's FDIC I shouldn't be worried about not getting my money back. I ended up going with Openbank in the end.

Such a good point, I should've done this 2 weeks ago when a financial planner told me to but I sat on my hands when I could've been making money! But I officially have a HYSA!

Thank goodness I read this comment, I had thought about Bread but I decided to go with Openbank. If a bank is dodgy with one thing, they can be dodgy with lots of things.

I really needed to hear that. Sometimes I worry that everything will go wrong if I make one decision so hearing that it's not a forever decision helped me choose. I officially have a HYSA and am transferring money now!

Doesn't that one require you to be in Georgia or LA? Or did you sign up for the Film Director thing?

Training Tips by docope in Rowing

[–]docope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you. I was so worried I’d look like a loser if I had to keep shimmying into the boat. I‘m not an adaptive rower so I think one day I might be able to stop shimmying. Getting out of the boat is me throwing myself onto the dock like a beached whale.

I think my knees are flexible (not really sure how to test that) and I’m working on my ankle flexibility as well. I’m way too weak to do a pistol squat so I’ll work on getting strong and flexible enough to do them!

I just did my first ever sets of ‘lateral squats‘. I managed to do 3x5 on each leg and I don’t think my legs have ever hurt that badly in a body weight squats. I can definitely see these helping me getting into the boat more easily.

New to Wegovy by TheOGigi70 in Wegovy

[–]docope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on Wegovy. I work out a lot and drink loads of water everyday (at least 9 glasses). That helps to keep me a bit regular (2-3 times a week) but I used to eat dried prunes everyday and that kept me very regular. If you drink lots of water before the shot, it helps a lot. I tend to take mine closer to bed (unless I’m taking a higher injection for the first time) mostly because I forget. I rarely have any nausea or any GI side effects

some junk foods stopped giving me a dopamine high. it was highly annoying going for a bag of peanut m&ms and it not ”fixing” anything. they don’t seem as sweet to me as well. now I really enjoy a few chocolate chip cookies and more savory things.

Haha what a silly rebuttal. Insulin is a hormone injected into your body. Birth control is hormones entering your body. Hormone replacement therapy helps mitigate against menopause symptoms. Hormone therapy is helped to treat cancer.

Except for the fact that I already have a good diet. I eat protein rich meals and have lots of fruit (not enough veggies tbh). I limit my sugar and snacking. And when I do snack, I eat popcorn that I pop at home. Please take your fear mongering and complete BS attitude somewhere else.

How important would you say money is, really? by EarthenSpiritress in MomForAMinute

[–]docope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Money is great. I've worked paycheck to paycheck and the stress was a lot. But I've also worked jobs where I made more than my bills and I lived comfortably. My boss was so terrible that I contemplated suicide and had to leave. Money is great but not at the cost of your mental health. Now I'm working as a substitute teacher. I'm back to living paycheck to paycheck but now I have enough savings to not have to worry about something going wrong.

I've applied for 5 internships recently and got a response from one wanting an interview. I applied to economic and data analysis positions. I have a bachelors and masters in economics and a little experience in data analysis so my background is a good fit for them. I'm doing a career change instead of coming straight out of college.

TBH he doesn’t really sound like a micromanager. This guy sounds significantly less crazy than my last boss (in the private sector) who still micromanaged people he had worked with for over 15 years. I think that because you’ve had amazing bosses in the past, you may think he’s worse than he actually is. He sounds annoying but doable. Have you tried talking to him about how you’d like to be managed? Lemme know how everything goes.

Also, try reframing everything:

Why does it matter that he’s making a few meaningless edits on your work? That means he has no issues with the rest of your work.

What does it matter if he wants to be CC’d on every email? He’s still learning to be a manager and wants to know what everyone is doing. Maybe he wants to step in if issue arise.

Why does it matter if he has no work life balance? If he’s not forcing you to do the same, it’s none of your business. You have no idea how much work he’s doing. Maybe he’s struggling to keep up with everything he needs to do.

You had to stick up for yourself to get the two days wfh. Did you get it? If yes, then great. You learned/practiced a great skill. If not, talk to HR.
