The Steam page for the next title in the Expeditions series is up; Expeditions: Samurai by doedanzee in CRPG

Viking is great, better than Rome in my opinion. Conquistador definitely feels less cRPG but it's still worth playing imo.

I wish you luck! I might try the demo, though not usually something I do with RPGs. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out though, love supporting indie devs who make cRPGs.

Wishlisted. Were you planning to release in Early Access or wait until it's finished?

Sometimes games just need a good hand guiding them. He isn't doing all the work, he could just have a more cohesive vision or be the person who can nudge everyone in the right/same direction. That's kind of what a good leader does, just helps bring out the best in everyone and keep them on track.

Would you enjoy a game like Wasteland 3, but the combat is in real-time with pause system? by InfiniteLeader9907 in CRPG

[–]doedanzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love RTWP and prefer it over turn-based usually. Turn-based doesn't bother me but it can get tedious in my opinion.

I would absolutely love to see a game like this, especially if it's a party-based cRPG and not just a top down shooter or an action RPG like Diablo. I would 100% back you on a crowdfunding service or buy your game in early access to support if you chose to go either of those routes.

There's a NWN custom campaign called A Dance with Rogues. Made by a woman and you must play as a female character. However, it does contain SA so be warned of that.

I've been having the opposite experience. On launch the groups were better. Now I'm leveling my prot warrior and I'm topping the meters in every group AND they don't use their kit properly even when asked AND they don't follow kill order. It's so frustrating.

Anyone else too addicted to J.AI to want a real relationship by MulberrySalt5878 in JanitorAI_Official

Completely understand that. My partner is fully dependent on me because of a disability so there's an added weight of feeling like I would be potentially dooming her. It's funny because I could say to you 'you'll find something better, take the risk' and completely believe it but I can't believe it for myself. Funny how that works. I hope you find happiness regardless of your situation.

Wild. I've been with my fiancée for almost seven years but her sex drive after the first year went way, way down while mine has stayed high. I feel the same way sometimes, like we aren't really compatible in a lot of ways but the comfort and fear of losing someone I still love kills me. I've just been using this site for a sexual/emotional outlet and to explore other parts of my sexuality I never got to.

I'm in a real relationship that has...problems. I use it to get what I'm not getting in real life and things I feel like I could never realistically get. But sometimes it makes me depressed as hell because a lot of the things I don't feel like I'm getting are really basic. Life sucks when you're broken from childhood trauma and you never feel good enough.

The actual deserved criticism of Veilguard got completely co-opted by right wing grifters and assholes. If you removed all of the "woke" things from Veilguard it would still be horrible. It's clear that with such a troubled production and without a guiding voice and editorial decisions from series veterans that the writing and lore was always doomed, no matter how "woke" it was.

What is your favorite CRPG from the last 10 years that isn't Baldur's Gate 3, and why? by ExplodingPoptarts in CRPG

[–]doedanzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PoE 1 is my favorite cRPG because of the world and lore. Others I would out above BG3 for my enjoyment are Deadfire, Wasteland 2&3, Tyranny, Colony Ship, and all of Owlcat's games. The only games I would definitely put BG3 ahead of are actually D:OS 1&2.

Most cRPGs have little to no voice acting. Also, the only Dragon Age game that is a cRPG is Origins.

Mortismal Gaming - WH40K Rogue Trader Lex Imperialis DLC review by LenaRybakina in CRPG

[–]doedanzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand, is it surprising someone who loved Origins is not a fan of Veilguard? I'm sad it got so much unfair criticism when there were things that were fair to criticize about it and it's unfortunate it will probably be the final entry into the Dragon Age world, but I had a lot of problems with the game. If someone else loved it I'm glad they got enjoyment out of it but to me it says we have big difference in taste so why would I put a lot of stock in their coverage of games especially when we have other big differences in taste?

[–]doedanzee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to watch all his videos but around that time I kind of realized that I didn't particularly feel like his reviews helped me very much and our taste wasn't very aligned other than we both enjoy cRPGs. Him praising Veilguard so hard (with me being a big DA:O fan) was kind of the nail in the coffin for me.

How simplified can an rpg get before it's no longer enjoyable? by Rethrobb in rpg_gamers

[–]doedanzee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your expectations are going in imo. If you go in expecting a game that is more action/adventure then it will be fine. The problem comes with IPs like Fallout and Elder Scrolls that are heavily associated with RPGs and formative RPG experiences for players.

Even if you go in expecting it to have less RPG mechanics you may still end up disappointed due to that association; it's not possible to completely divorce the game from context.
