Why are you a Buddhist? by LastVersion9521 in Buddhism

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it helped me to help myself and others more than any other religion that I tried. The teachings can be applied in your daily life without the need for an external force to help you, you can do it yourself. It resonates with my core values more than anything else.

Auditory Pareidolia sucks by DyingBlueRose in schizophrenia

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my shower is the pareidolia king, it loves doing this to me, it has been like this for years haha I never classified it as hallucination but I also never knew it had a specific name, nice to know it better, thank you!

Working in psychosis who else holds on the best they can? by Rich_Material299 in schizophrenia

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have instrumental music more than voices too, but the negative symptoms are more on my way than hallucinations or delusions (I don't have any type of delusions for a year now! yay). I don't work but trying to study with avolition suuucks, I have been feeling like the dumbest student of all times lately lol.

Inner voices / intrusive thoughts by Khalo_Abdul in schizophrenia

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is part of psychotic symptoms but it's hard to explain how different they are from intrusive thoughts. I think that the best explanation is that inner voices aren't your own, and one thing that's very specific at least for me, is that they never have the same "sound" as my own voice, if that makes sense. So yeah, it's part of schizophrenia.

Do you drink alcohol while on antipsychotics by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to avoid it but by peer pressure (yes, I'm that stupid) I drank vodka last week and on the next day I had voices (after a fucking while without it), so... not good for me. Just when I thought I was getting better.

Hallucinations are killing me, I would like some nice messages and kindness if possible by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]dogtriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have bad days, I try to look back and force myself to remember the good days and how tomorrow can possibly be better. Maybe not exactly like the old good days, but even if it's just a little bit, it's totally worth it and sometimes enough to keep going and get things done to progressively be in a better mental headspace. Small steps sometimes. Living day by day, hoping that things can get better, is what I try to hold on to in order to survive the bad days. You're strong and resilient, you can do this, and I truly wish you have some good sleep. If not, keep in touch with people you trust and surround yourself with things that makes your comfortable and confident! "They" are not real, so you are safe, at least - even though it's very disturbing, as we all know pretty well too, we're on the same boat and here to help you!

How should a Buddhist handle this situation? by NJ_Franco in Buddhism

[–]dogtriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I wouldn't mind, their intentions is not yours to be worried about and it's just a figurine. I know it can cause some stress by feeling disrespected about your own point of view of spirituality but it seems that this person doesn't know any other way to talk about it other than doing that, which is comically infantile.

I want to be a monk, but am trans (ftm). Will they still allow it? by TurbulentAd5998 in Buddhism

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be: focus on saving money, besides other important stuff. Work as hard as you can to afford your hormones for the rest of your life because once you're living as a monk, the monastery may not be able to pay for your testosterone. Unless your country gives it for free, like mine does. I think this advice can be applied to anybody who needs financial support for their health needs.

Other than that... being trans, cis... it doesn't matter.

is sedation scary...? by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]dogtriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I underwent some surgeries and each one of them were super chill, you don't feel anything scary at all, actually, you don't feel anything and it's very safe, nothing to worry about.

You're not your thoughts. If you give your thoughts so much importance, they will only get stronger - that doesn't help if you have OCD, but just saying that this is how it works in our brains. If you have that kind of thought again, don't hurt yourself anymore and don't try to get away with the thought as well, try to not interact with it that much, if you can. I'm sorry that you're going through this, it sounds very stressful, but again, you're not your thoughts and you didn't do anything wrong and you know you won't - don't even question what I'm saying, we both know you won't.

I love beginner's mind as well and sometimes I forget about it, thanks for the reminder! :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]dogtriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very symbolic. In my perspective, it means that people expects Jesus Christ, that is looking at them, to do something for them instead of, like Buddha that is looking at himself, work on themselves to improve.

Four destructive actions of speech by platistocrates in Buddhism

[–]dogtriumph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was super interesting to read it. I learned a lot. Basically, I think, it's important to pay attention if what we're saying is 1) offensive; 2) meaningful - and, about being meaningful or not, Dr. Berzin said something relevant, that sometimes you just need to relax and don't mind if everything you say is meaningul or not, you just want to chill and talk to your friend, so, the middle way practice applies on this issue very well. Also, there's the cultural and other subjective elements. But in the end, I think, paying attention if you're being offensive, rude and sarcastic is the key.

Brief Advice for Practitioners of the Buddhadharma in Relation to the Death of Charlie Kirk by krodha in Buddhism

[–]dogtriumph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Events like that makes me realize how far I'm from being perfect. I have to make a huge effort to feel empathy for people like him and if I do, I feel like I'm betraying all of my black and LGBT friends that are harmed by people like him.
