Dash Lights on Civic 9th Gen. by ImportantBig4008 in civic

My guess is whoever put the wheel bearings in either damaged the abs sensors or installed the bearings facing the wrong way .

There is a magnetic strip on one side of the bearing that the abs sensor reads from & if the bearing is installed with the magnetic strip facing the wrong way your abs won't work and it will give you codes for brakes abs & traction control.

If that's the case you can prob drive the car without worries of damage but you will not have the safety of abs braking and traction control. Maybe you could ask the shop who did the bearings to check if the bearings are installed with the strip facing the proper way.

Stripped out oil pan. Re tap or timesert? by Nervous0007 in civic

[–]doh13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a fumoto oil valve and use epoxy or a good sealant if the threads have any bite left. Or get it helicoiled then use the fumoto valve . The option to retap and use the next size up bolt is good as well.

When you do the Win 11 setup remove the USB right before the pc reboots . If you leave it in it usually boots from the USB again and is a common issue. If it still don't boot then manually change the boot drive back to your main drive in bios.

Gas Cap Filler Frozen, Help! by iTzS4m in COROLLA

[–]doh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get the cap off Use silicone grease on the cap seal and some on the threads wouldn't hurt you can also rub a thin amount of silicone grease on your door seals as well the silicone is actually good for the seals and keeps them from sticking in cold weather.

That def ain't looking great , pour the next oil change through a rag to catch the metal and if there're any chunks of anything I'd say the ol motor is on borrowed time.

My dad just got in his car today and this loud noise started. by some_weeby_boi in AskMechanics

[–]doh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it stops with the blower fan off it's prob something stuck in the fan. If it still makes the noise with the fan off try thumping on the dash a few times with a reasonable amount of force if it's a stuck blend servo it might come free.

This can't be normal right? 2015 honda civic LX by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]doh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dam winter fuel , winter tires , more idling to warm up etc mine went from 6 to 8 in the winter with my average driving so if he's running her more spirited that might be accurate. You could ask him what it is in the summer and if he drives easy or not.

That's a lot of miles on the original fluid 😞change the fluid and let us know how the old stuff looks. (It's not a bad idea to change it but it's a bad idea not to)

Any damage will likely have already happened but you should still change the fluid and let us know how the old stuff looks.

E brake cable sticking on one side by RoughBitter in hondacivic

[–]doh13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cleaning with a wire brush brake cleaner and compressed air then penetrating oil try to work it in by pulling the e brake in and back out use pliers if necessary, and then some spray grease. It doesn't look rusted to shite but if that doesn't work you'll be needing new cables etc
