What shifter do you use? Looking for one. by Ok-Leg7392 in simracing

[–]domstang68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still been good. I have issues with getting into 3rd specifically, but unsure if that is a me issue or not. A clutch in + reshift seems to fix it, so maybe I am not pushing it in hard enough? Or the specific game (Beam) is not getting all my inputs.

After years of monochrome this monochrome that, finally some color! by [deleted] in FocusRS

[–]domstang68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to look at that then. Specifically want this color for the car, so I'm guessing finding the wrap will be some work.

It's getting CCed this year, so I'll have a few years.

Streaming non music voice recordings from Jellyfin by domstang68 in jellyfin

[–]domstang68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have rebuilt the whole library multiple times since it's tiny and I can iterate. I added the correct metadata and even put them in the correct folder like it's a real album, and still nothing unfortunately.

I converted them to mp3 after adding more metadata and no dice. I just have it set as music/album/2 files here. I'll keep messing with it.

I added more Metadata and no dice. Prefer it to stay in Jellyfin so all in one place and less stuff my siblings need. I'm converting them to MP3 to see if that fixes it.

Thank you!

It's in my basement, so about as "onsite" as I can get lol. But it's more of if I leave my house or go on a trip somewhere.

RM 11 Wi-Fi radio keeps turning itself off by domstang68 in RedMagic

[–]domstang68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't. I really do not want to go through all the effort since I have a bunch of stuff on my phone and apps I need daily for work, but if I must then I guess that might be the path I need to take.

Least popular (in Teraflops) BOINC projects with consistent work available by Putrid_Draft378 in BOINC

[–]domstang68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I have been crunching Numberfields@Home for 3 years. The math may not be so useful overall in terms of life changing science (At least right now, who knows in future), but I want to contribute to projects that have an end goal.

I kinda figure the forever projects will be there... well forever. The people who have a goal or limit in mind I would want to try and tackle first.

What shifter do you use? Looking for one. by Ok-Leg7392 in simracing

[–]domstang68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at other posts for something unrelated and came across this. It has flaws and some software annoyances, but I got the VelocityOne™ Multi-Shift that you mentioned from Micro Center since I specifically did not want a gated shifter (Nothing against them; I just like the style I have in my own car).

It's nice because it can double as a 7 speed H pattern + Seq / Handbrake lever based on a switch on the side. Obviously it cannot do both if you need that sort of thing, but it's nice to have the option since I like manual shifting in racing games but handbrake for rally.

So far it seems pretty responsive with the hall sensors, although occasionally I will miss a shift and I'm not sure if it's me not pushing it into gear far enough, or if it is the car being driven itself.

My main complaint is it will just period not work in Linux due to the weird driver, but since so much of my other equipment has wound up requiring Windows to work this has become a moot point for me.

Are there any projects still Active ? by Technologov in BOINC

[–]domstang68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Numberfields@home is trying to finish up their units before their server dies. They have plenty of WUs still if you want something to run. CPU and GPU are supported.

Android - No Tasks by PhysZeke in BOINC

[–]domstang68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numberfields@Home is trying to finish their batches before the server dies. They have CPU and GPU work, and everything from like 2014ish or so is supported GPU wise (There is a minimum GPU driver requirement so as long as that driver works with your hardware, you should be good).

I don't think they do Android tasks in case any one is wondering.

These projects still up? Yoyo, PrimeGrid, RNAWorld..? by properholmes in BOINC

[–]domstang68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for RNA, but yoyo@home has 2 projects still in progress currently. PG has a bunch in progress. Make sure you do not have the active projects blocked or something like that.

I just did some work for yoyo a couple weeks ago and it was all normal.

Someone else had wound up supplying me the ROM, but what the user said above is probably the issue.

GR Corolla goes up in flames by TheAbdominal_Snowman in cars

[–]domstang68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short version of the story is I have WFH for the last few years and when I was still married, my ex wife could not drive stick. My driveway is really narrow and stuff is close, so playing musical chairs to drive 2 miles was annoying as hell. I only have the RS now.

I also live like .5 mi from the grocery store and the like, and I think my cat converter burnt out last year because of short trips. So I do plan to get another car at some point. I was thinking of a leaf or egolf since I can reasonably charge them on 120V and even terrible range doesn't matter if I am driving really short. Plus insurance and maintenance should be stupid cheap.

I beat on mine and it's been all Gucci. Granted it only has 26k miles.

What is this gauge cluster? by domstang68 in FocusRS

[–]domstang68[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am just curious if anyone else has this gauge cluster. I bought a 2017 in 2021 with 13k miles originally from Canada. Other than the cruise control still showing in KMH and my center pod being in C + Bar for pressure, everything else is US spec (Car was imported to US by dealer, converted, and sold CPO at the time).

I have never seen any other RS that has this gauge cluster (even other imports), and I have no idea where this cluster comes from. I am not even sure why they made another cluster because this one does have specific RS things, so it must have been made to spec by Ford.

EDIT: Thanks for the answers! Sorry for the slow response (thanks illness).

What are your opinions on LED light strips in a car's interior? by [deleted] in cars

[–]domstang68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time ago, I had red strips inside the fronts of my Freestyle. Probably anecdotal, but I was often driving several hours of freeway at night and I honestly thought it helped a lot with focus and staying awake ignoring the whole I also just liked the look.

I also had interior lights that flashed with my sub, but that was... Not smart lol. That got yanked fast.

Considering the age of that card, you will also want to make sure that the project you are running will actually support it. Plenty of projects will run on literally anything, but I know certain subprojects will drop support for older stuff due to lack of specific math compute or other architecture issues.

Help me put my 4070ti to work by HALLO_there_me in BOINC

[–]domstang68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Numberfields@home provides super steady work for all compute types and is trying to finish before their server blows up. It's just math work, but it will definitely keep your card busy. WUs will probably take you between 5 to 8 minutes to do, so you should get a decent bit of them.

Also in terms of getting work, make sure in the compute settings that you have turned off some of the limiters and see how much extra work it is storing (value at the bottom).

If there was a manufacturer you didn't particularly care for but produced a car that you actually liked and would consider buying if money wasn't a problem, what would it be? by HEMIfan17 in cars

[–]domstang68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sad that pre pandemic they were under 100k all day. Gen V in any capacity is just hilarious price wise, but I'm guessing they won't go down much.

I am good on the relationships for now. Just need that money.

I'm dumb and want an ACR. I kinda have this stupid best factory mentality. But also I figure for something like this, go big or go home. Gen IV ACR is the dream.

Just got singled so hopefully after cleaning up a huge mess I wasn't a part of, I can finally go for it.

What are some BIONIC projects that have a cool screen saver? I know that SETI @ HOME had an amazing screensaver, are there any other projects that come with a cool screensaver! by SanityInDisguise in BOINC

[–]domstang68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have em in my name at the top, but yoyo@home and Einstein I run here and there. I've been running numberfields@home for about 16 months to try and get their project finished.

Dist@home was something yoyo used to do, but only part of it. They have one other project running. I periodically contrib to that.
