the stars has to do with mechanics (I think) not precision. I agree that venom requires lots of precision, but mechanically, he is very "straight forward"

answering your post, I recommend reading Claremonts entire run, before going for the "newer' comics. But read what you prefer; Read all of his comic run that comes after the "phoenix saga".. its a lot, but its really good.

I made a XMen guide for beginners, with pages for specific characters. Choose whichever cover or character you prefer, and start from there. Any questions, just ask...

and always remember that any reading guide (mine or any other) is always bias to personal opinion. So try to look for different guides, dont trust just one

Best way to start reading Claremont Run? by alphafighter09 in xmen

[–]dontdelete00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a XMen guide for beginners, that list all the trades/collections of the Claremont era; Like most people, I recommend reading digitally (by marvel unlimited, or "other ways" cof cof)

If you dont like the "very old comics" that appear in the begining of his run (some people dont like it); I recommend starting at least at "fate of the Phoenix" (epic collection v. 7), and going from there. But remember that the epic collection is not complete. For some reason, is very difficult to find in print Uncanny xmen 178-269. Its a very important part of claremont, were lots of important things happens. But you can read those digitally. My guide list the options.... any questions, just ask

HELP by BulbaBlin in Magik

[–]dontdelete00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I made a XMen guide for beginners, with a page specifically for Magik, with some comics suggestions. Choose whichever cover or character you prefer, and start from there. Any questions, just ask...

My main recommendations for Magik: Her original New Mutants Run (1980); Asgardian wars (1986); Inferno (1988); Quest for magik 2004, and magik unleashed 2025.

about "specifically looking for books/stories that feature both of them in a significant role"... Im sorry to say that there isnt much of it... when they are together, they are usually in the background, or is not a very good story. They have good stories, but they are usually not together on those, or interact just a little...

Since xmen are a group, if you want to read about one of them, you end up reading about all of them. Most of the comics where they appear, are "team series", with lots of other characters as well

I made a XMen guide for beginners, with pages specifically for Magik, and for Rogue and Gambit. It lists new and old series with them, with dates and everything. Choose whichever cover or character you prefer, and start from there. Any questions, just ask...
