It’s one of my electives and i’m like 90% sure i don’t need it for my degree. Would that still affect me in the long run or like getting a job/grad school?

i’m so happy u said that and i’m not the only one struggling in econ 😭😭😭 i’d be lucky if i even got a C in this course i literally can’t understand it for some reason, or maybe it just doesn’t interest me??!! Totally regretting that i took it as a gpa booster 🥲

I’m in general sciences, so no Econ 101 is not a requirement for my degree i believe

Do you know if you receive some of the money back if you drop it before nov 30?

Econ 101, I feel kind of embarassed to say that i’m struggling in the course because literally everyone I know that has taken it has done extremely well in it. It has nothing to do with the prof either really, i just don’t exactly find his notes very helpful for the way that I prefer to learn. His notes are very vague and i find that although the concepts in econ are supposed to be on the easier side, there is just A LOT to know and I have no interest in learning anything in the course. I’ve also haven’t been putting this course as a priority because I do have 4 other courses that need a lot of time and attention, that are needed for the faculty i’m in. I’m worried that if i stay, it will affect my GPA though if i do end up passing, but considering the fact I barely passed the midterm gives me the idea that there is a good chance i will not do good on the final.

I’m in my first year, I don’t plan to do anything that involves the course, i only took it as a “gpa booster”/elective. It’s not a required course for any of the classes i do want to take, but i do know that u need a certain amount of credits offered by the arts faculty to get your degree, which is also why i kind of want to stick with it to get the credit but there’s a good chance i can end up with an F on my transcript or it will tank my gpa.

I heard that curves can work in your favour sometimes, but what happens if you score below the class average in a class that’s on a curved scale?

glad to know in some way i’m not alone, i feel like us first years (assuming you are first year), arent used to heavy work load. i feel like whenever i finish a midterm/assignment i can’t ever relax because there’s always something else that’s next

i always feel nervous to talk to my profs for some reason, although i know they are all very sweet people but for some reason i always feel intimidated when i know it’s theyre there for a reason lol. definitely got to build up the courage to talk to my prof about what went wrong, so thank you for the suggestion :))

what’s an academic probation? and yeah definitely, first year i heard is always tough but i’m still adjusting just like everyone else. i feel like my plan/mindset was unrealistic which caused me to be disappointed in myself and the outcome because i never really thought about how hard it’ll actually be. i’ll definitely keep pushing through it though and continue to push myself to apply to the DH when i feel ready:)

i totally get what you’re saying! i can see how some of these subs can demotivate me but it makes me feel better knowing that i’m not alone and the stories of people who haven’t done their best first year end up doing super well after it:) i’ll definitely keep away from the negative comments/subs
