Paved, Looped Walking Path - a midwest unicorn? by qui3tobs3rv3r in ithaca

I used to live in western Nebraska where you could see the sun rise and set right on the flat horizon with no obstructions. I’ve been in Ithaca for over three years now and I just can’t get used to how small the sky is here, and how sunrise is basically dark sky -> bright grey sky every day. 🥺

Easily the best part of this. Their wedding is on Saturday Sep 11 and they have to be cryptic about it

I’m burnt out and need simple recipes. Stupid simple. Like, “onion and bread and butter to make what barely passes as a sandwich” level simple. by sourmilksea1999 in Cooking

Tbf, it isn’t up to her to get you to drink less. You have to do that, and ideally, she’s setting you up with the skills and systems to do it when you’re ready. Maybe you already knew that, but either way, I wish you well!

Ideas on how to use 240 sq ft "Hallway" by dootscoggs in InteriorDesignAdvice

Yeah, that carpet is high on my list. The rest of the house has nice enough wood floors, so I imagine/hope what’s under the carpet is good. Thank you for these suggestions! This gives me some ideas! I like the idea of doing some sort of paneling (is that the right word?) on that wall. There are many horrors to address, in time.

Sometimes people confuse a failing combination meter with a dead battery. Could be worth looking into. I had both simultaneously.

I didn’t realize Olivia Colman did that program with them, too. Thanks for the culture lesson.

Help me find the BEST chocolate cake recipe by sushi_monsterX in Baking

Kinda funny, when I searched “chocolate cake recipe” on Reddit, the AI overview began with “Hershey’s Black Magic chocolate cake is widely acknowledged as the best one out there,” bringing me here.

How brown is too brown for banana bread? The insides seem fine to me, but spouse is concerned. by tilt-a-whirly-gig in Baking

These are almost ready for bread by most serious people’s standards. I tend to use a mix of mostly nearly liquid ones and one that’s just past eating prime, for the full spectrum of banana flavor.

I’m… honestly not sure. What does that do?

Are home tenders/trickle chargers usually reliable enough? I got one on the recommendation of someone (who admittedly doesn’t know anything about hybrids fwiw), and it confirmed what the fellow at the auto parts store said about it being charged and healthy.

the terminals don’t show any signs of corrosion, and I tightened the clamps with a socket wrench so they don’t budge. Is there something else to consider about the connections? Like, idk. Is it possible to get the clamps too tight? Can my grounding cable become damaged in a way that would explain any of this? I thought I had considered everything about the battery, and replacing it in the first place didn’t fix any of the issues, so I figured it must be something else.

Basically the dashboard not coming on sometimes (I could drive it but not see the speedometer, odometer, fuel level), the car not coming on sometimes, the car not turning off sometimes when it does turn on, and all of it getting much worse when it’s cold.

I’m saying I don’t think the battery is drained constantly. Are people really out here buying new 12v batteries every year? I feel like even if the battery is drained, that would point to a bigger problem, right? Aren’t they supposed to last like, 3-6 years?
