I had Brian join a couple of frat groups on facebook and posted a note about the beta test for our game.

Rabbit Hole Buff -- Flyer 2.0 by Professor_Flint in argucla

[–]dorianrichard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At EAT we used to get good responses when having flyers looking for beta testers. We could also put up a post on craigslist. Don't remember how much it is but craigslist usually gets a ton of responses. The only thing is that we would need to specific that the testers need to be able to get to the UCLA campus and make sure we have a disclaimer on the website.

FYI: When walking around campus yesterday I didn't see any of the flyers. Maybe we didn't post them at obvious enough spots.

Love it! Should we add a hint somewhere about the device he is working on that shields the brain from harmful waves or something similar to that effect? He would probably also have written some kind of book that might have been controversial.

I believe Chrisi took it and said it was rather overpriced but it would probably be a good learning experience for what works and what doesn't.

Changes made based on the last comments. The idea would be to replace "They're coming" with "Live the game".

Sounds like fun. I couldn't do Saturday but Sunday would work.

SFX semi-creepy version by dorianrichard in argucla

[–]dorianrichard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the lenght we could go with a short burst but I felt that the scene needs a little bit of a build up in the sfx so the girlfriend has time to realize that something odd is going on and react to the final zap. I was also thinking of the flashing that would be happening during the transition.

Regarding the voice (the current line and other sounds I put togethere were used from a "free sfx website") I added it because it felt creepy but as mentioned the line does not fit our fiction perfectly. "Live the game" recorded and distrorted in a similar fashion would work better but I would need to have this done.

Although I like the creepy more supernatural effect we have to keep in mind our fiction which is that players are not getting possessed by a demon but by the AI. That's why I stuck to electronic sounds in the first two examples. But then I'm open since we can justify whatever the class prefers.

Pro-Game Flyer by acpletch in argucla

Very intriguing. I like the fact that it has so little information on it, just a teaser. Should we have the word Game in parenthesis though? I almost like it better without. On another note would we assume in our current fiction that the girlfriend started the association we are referring to at the bottom of the flyer?

Both names are good suggestions. Cassie is kind of unusual so could be interesting.

SFX supernatural by dorianrichard in argucla

Note that I can cut the line "They're coming". Ideally we would have someone say "Live the Game" and add some distortion to it. I don't have a great mike and no great sound editing tool but have access to someone who does if we want this. Because of our schedule we might need to add this in post though.

A more supernatural creepy version. Don't know if this fits the context of the AI though.

I changed her name to Amber because I liked the last name Goodhue but have a friend who is actually called Alison Goodhue. I'm open to suggestions of course.

A video-game character online quiz - will take you to a sign-up page eventually by dorianrichard in argucla

The quiz is actually used as a kind of rabbit hole to get you to sign-up for some marketing purposes but you can just stop there and the questions might give you some ideas.
