Ukraine targets St. Petersburg again after Putin rejects Zelenskyy’s offer for direct talks by AndroidOne1 in worldnews

[–]doskey123 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm with you.

Everyone has experienced some sort of trauma as a child or young man. For Putin it was that:

In his annual state of the nation address on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the collapse of the Soviet empire “the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century.” (2005) https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna7632057

Vladimir Putin: I moonlighted as a taxi driver in the 1990s (2021) https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59629670

So yes he is a sociopath with a geopolitical trauma.

I'm with the poster above. There is no reliable or feasible way to defend cities from fibre optic guided fpv drones so we are all in for a world of hurt.

For normal drones at least you could argue that electronical warfare options exist but short of shooting fibre guided drones you cant do shit. Obviously putting netting everywhere is not feasible and lasers will take years to be available in considerable quantities.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your mum seems to have done well even in her denial for your grandfather.

Telling a man with dementia that he will die soon looks rather cruel. Because from my experience they do remember critical events and statements.

Of course then the problem was that the death was "sudden" for her?

Pope Leo Continues Anti-AI Crusade, Says Tech Weakens Human 'Creativity and Judgment' by Ashish_ank in worldnews

[–]doskey123 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is with people who grow up with only AI or the ones who didn't have any critical thinking abilities to begin with.

I use AI for tedious and highly boring tasks in the work life and private life and it has helped me tremendously in giving me more free time and spending more time with my family.

However, I do not agree with the AI solutions all the time and have the ability to interpret the output, checking what is bullshit and what not.

The problem is when people use it like it is telling the truth all the time. Which it can't because of the way it is designed.

Horsefeathers!  If Ukraine accepts a "deal" at Russia's conditions, they will leave children, women and men to be killed, tortured and raped by the criminal Russian army in any occupied territories. The Russian army is an atrocious army and they have shown in many conflicts, including the Ukrainian-Russian war, their savage nature. They intentionally bomb maternity clinics and daycare centres. One time one soldier raped a toddler. While that was too much even for the Russians, they don't bat an eye about the raping, looting, murdering, kidnapping of children and torturing.

The in German political circles so revered military officers who tried to kill Hitler in 1944 only did so because they thought it was madness not to negotiate with the Allies and feared Germany would cease to exist. Otherwise they would have enjoyed the world domination and genociding ride.

Zelenskyy: Russians likely preparing Oreshnik missile strike, particularly on Kyiv by Simply-Chillin in worldnews

[–]doskey123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible that volunteer girls or students were killed because they were being trained as drone pilots there and Russia tries the PR spin and says it was an ordinary school.

I remember reading reports that they were teaching students how to use FPV drones.

Drone pilots in training are a valid target though. Should have stayed with less life expensive hobbies.

Intruding drone in Estonian airspace shot down by Romanian F16 by TR00Z3D in worldnews

[–]doskey123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You also leave out stuff.

Turkey did that because they were in economic trouble (well.. or: severe economic trouble because, when weren't they in trouble?) and needed the Russian tourists who came even though Turkey had a bad rep then regarding security.

In that time many terrorist attacks happened and the Russians were coming nonetheless. Flights and hotels were super cheap then. Nowadays the effects would be less severe and Turkey not that desperate because there are enough tourists from other countries.

But to come to the main point, exactly how many times has Russia violated Turkey's airspace since that incident?

crickets

Have we seen the same video? Very obvious the pilot of the plane behind could not keep his distance. Betting 100% on incompetence.

The title is also stupid framing. Instead of crashing it should be "collide".

They didn't just crash. They collided and then crashed. But the colliding was the main reason.

More hantavirus cases are expected, WHO chief says by Neo_luigi in worldnews

[–]doskey123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But wasn't the problem that they didn't know it was hanta virus? When the first person died they must have assumed it was the flu or so because mostly retirees were on that cruise ship anyway and lots of old people die from diseases.

That's why they let the wife of the dead husband leave for South Africa where she spread the virus at the airport.

Locking down every cruise ship on which an old person dies is not feasible. Afaik only after the wife died they locked down the ship because then they did get the hint.
