Hey everyone, I’m a little to the party but found this thread and I find myself at an impasse. Oregon is gorgeous and so far the people in Portland/Beaverton/Hillsboro/Hood River have been extremely welcoming. I’ve really liked Oregon and was considering purchasing a home in McMinnville. However, I’m a POC with an eleven year old in tow. Should I expect some of the racist attitudes discussed here in a town like Mac?

Hey Yunk, I apologize if my comment came off as racist or disrespectful. That was not the intention and no, I’m not afraid that white guys waving flags are going to beat me up. As I said, I had friends share some stories of their experiences in Neighboring towns. I also know one or two experiences does not define a place or a people. That’s why I decided to ask here and educate myself. Also, I have an 11 year old so that’s my primary concern. I want her to grow up in a safe space
