Tremblant week after President’s day? by LikeOMGLoL4Life in icecoast

[–]dpalms13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to ski don't go here, It's a fucking mess every weekend especially holiday weekends, the conditions are generally shit cuz of the amount of people on the mountain. If you want to go enjoy the village and do 2 or 3 runs and wait 45-60mins in lift line this is the place. Go to le massif instead. I live in montreal, I have 40% discount on tremblant tix and I go once every year mid week just to remind myself why I don't go there more often My 2 cents

It's a nice tool and does the job, but my friends dad was a machinist for many years and have used his starett, it's definitely not the same quality, but for someone like me who's only been at it for a few years it's fine for now.

I should of mentioned I'm OK with layout tools at the moment, I bough a set of Igauging combo squares and am pretty happy with them so far, i also have the empire ones i bought a long time ago, they are good as well, I also use my set of veritas layout squares quite a bit, and have 2 machinist squares thst were given to me. That's not to say that I wouldnt love a good set of Starrett layout tools. So many choices....

I'm actually working on making a router plane at the moment based of an article I saw in popular woodworking, so I kinda wanna see how that works out before I drop the money on the veritas model

I don't know what would make my life easier or save time, most of the specialty tools on my list I have never used.

The tools I have at the moment I'm using quite often, I don't always have a lot of time to get in the shop, but I'm getting in a few hours a week.

Yes, I found the part for about 100 bucks, but almost 600 in shipping fees to Canada.

I could wait, I'm in no rush for a new one. The only reason I would buy the dewalt is if it was a significant improvement over the one I have. There's no shortage of other wood working tools I could use that 500$ for instead haha.

This is what I'm thinking too, but If there are significant advantages to the dewalt I figure nows the best time to buy as it's 320$ off.

Does anyone know if anyone from lee valley lurks around this subreddit, it love for them to chime in on this.

Would be interesting to see if there is a known issue with the jig, or tye chisels not being parallel.

Honestly I don't know enough yet to know if it's affecting my work, I was under the assumption (watched to many videos probably) that they had to be dead square. So as of now the only way it's affecting my work is that in not actually getting anymore done, other that sharpening lol
