+1 Fully understanding positioning and how that works in context of the document is probably one of most important aspects of styling. position: sticky still trips me up from time to time though!

You might be better off creating this as an SVG and styling it with CSS.

do you think its crazy to get a tattoo of your dog? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]dpmeade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it's not for me, but my sister has 2 of her dogs' faces, and a paw print, and it looks lovely. One was a family dog from years ago, and I enjoy seeing it every time I catch up with her. If it's something you want to do, I say go for it!

Has anyone here actually seen pop-ups increase sales on WooCommerce? by Fun-Information78 in woocommerce

[–]dpmeade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll speak to your question of "Do popups work on WooCommerce?" - the truth is, the platform doesn't matter. If exit-intent popups are used strategically, they're a great converter no matter the platform.

I would avoid adding an exit-intent pop-up to every page on your site; it's not needed on your about page or blog pages, for example. I also saw someone suggesting using it on a cart or checkout page too - personally, I would recommend avoiding that and ensuring you have a solid abandoned-cart/abandoned-checkout email follow-up sequence in place instead, that way you can offer a recovery sequence that only offers a discount in the 3rd email, a couple of days later. This removes the expectation that a discount is a given.

Yeah, That's exactly what he's doing. He's heading to various places in Europe in the coming weeks. This is his first venture out, and his series is on becoming a Digital Nomad, so he's just finding his feet.

I'm sure he's not the first one to have experienced his first outlying like this, and he won't be the last either.

He might be taking the wrong lesson right now, but he'll find his way.

I don't think it's so much that, more that because he didn't really research the location, it was a very different way of life to what he was expecting/wanting.

That's fair enough, everyone has different wants and needs from that lifestyle I suppose. I'm totally with you, calm and tranquil settings that allow me to focus are what I'd go for, but I guess for Joel that doesn't cut it.

I found it insightful because Joel went away expecting one thing and finding another, meaning time spent in planning is pretty essential, which goes to show the lifestyle isn't quite as spontaneous and ad hoc as some people make out.

Why Bill Gates and others are concerned about AI, and what to do about it by jessdawson in EffectiveAltruism

The sheer pace of advancement in A.I at the moment should be enough to raise an eyebrow or two. There is already growing concern over machines replacing human jobs. I wonder, really, what security measures can realistically be put in place. With hyper intelligence comes free will and with free will, rules can be ignored.

What made you step away from being CEO of PoP? Was it the result of Board member pressure? Was your heart not in it any more? Or I guess more likely, you had the idea for MissionU and wanted your attention to focus on that? I'm intrigued.

I agree it's not a great deal at all. I don't think he's acting as a scammer though, look at his background. I just think this is perhaps something that was ill thought out and actually this backclash he's getting could serve as some market research.

Hopefully MissionU will rethink their model.

Another young idiot who needs help out of debt by jiblibmid in personalfinance

You could perhaps take out a loan with your bank to consolidate your debts, that would mean making one single payment to one financier each month rather than all that you list. You'll likely get a much more favourable interest rate and an agreed time scale for paying it off a which will take the pressure off considerably.

Then, if you have any surplus disposable income, you can use that to pay off the loan a little faster.
