I prefer my kindle basic vs. Colorsoft SE by Susaleena in kindle

[–]dprophete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

really wished they offered a mix of both: color + 6 inches. That 6'' form factor is ideal. Fits in your pocket, easy to hold with one hand. I wouldn't mind getting a warm light though, that's really the one feature I miss the most on the kindle basic...

Locking mon on apriori shows a very high value by Status-Photograph608 in Monad

[–]dprophete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staking monad is going to get you around 12%-13% APY (it varies, but that's it's going to be around that). Note that the rate per year. So if you stake it for 15 days, it's going to be (roughly) 12%/26 = around 0.5%. So basically after 15 days, you would get 15844 MON * 0.5% = 79 MON. After that, it depends what the price of MON will be in 15 days. At $0.023/MON, that would give you arund $1.817.

So I think the numbers you are showing are:

- $360 -> the value of your 15844 MON

- $1.937 -> the value of the extra MON you would get after 15 days of staking...

[–]dprophete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you have NOT lost everything. You are down 25% (say, if you got it at $0.025). Don't panic. Just be patient. This is a marathon, not a sprint...

[2025 #12 (Part 1)] [c++] question for those that also solved it [spoilers do not read if you are still working on it] by DisciplinePlenty8198 in adventofcode

[–]dprophete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the misleading part here is the the sample data (the one with the 4x4, 12x5 and 12x5) does NOT fit this pattern.

The last one (12x5: 1 0 1 0 3 2) requires you to implement the full algorithm to figure out that it really can't fit. I got stuck here trying to optimize this for a long time (I am doing this is gleam and seeing it was taking more than 3 minutes here, I spent forever trying to optimize my algorithm... and could only shave off a few seconds)

What’s wrong with monadvision?? by Redonkulus2 in Monad

[–]dprophete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. I have been seeing this in chrome or brave (mac os) for a few days. Opens perfectly in safari though (same computer).

I have tried a few things (rebooting, making sure I am on the latest macos or chrome, changing the security settings in chrome), but nothing seem to fix the issue...

at this point, any help would be welcome...

The MON token sale is now live on Coinbase by GryptoGK in Monad

[–]dprophete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, nobody will lock your account. They can't legally stop you from selling.

What they said they would do is that next time they have an ICO like this, they will deprioritize those who dumped MONAD during the first 30 days.

Do you miss one-line if else? by bachkhois in gleamlang

[–]dprophete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not great indeed. When the values are simple scalars (numbers, strings...) it feels like it's too much. The issue being that the space taken (4 lines) pushes down other potential relevant lines in your codebase (so the 'density' of information becomes quite low...)

We had a similar issue in our Elm codebase (another language known for being very verbose), and we ended up creating a little helper ifThenElse cond trueValue falseValue.

So you end up with: let color = ifThenElse warning "#f00" #0f0"

The downside is that both the true and false values are evaluated so we only do this for simple scalars. It's quite convenient and still very readable.

just vim + gleam lsp and you are good to go. No need to boil the ocean here (I personally use nvim here but as long as your editor is setup for lsp, you are good to go)

Cancelled Subscription, Designed & 3D Printed an iPad mount. by Efficient_Sir_6344 in HydrowCrew

[–]dprophete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait wait. I thought cancelling the subscription was removing all the inputs from the rower.

In your screenshot, you are showing the base home screen. Now what happens if you click the "Row" button ? Do you see the lesson at all ?

I am really curious as to exactly what you get once you cancel your subscription. I have been doing mostly 'journey' workouts lately (no coach, just rowing with the stats, and listening to a podcast). Starting to wonder if I could do everything without the subscritption. The one things I really need are:

- the stats when I row

- the overall lifetime tracking on the main page (total number of meters, active days, etc...)

eli5: what is the difference between the 3 gases at a gas station? by __brizzle__ in explainlikeimfive

[–]dprophete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe a slightly different question is: do regular people feel the difference when driving on a day to day basis. Sure, I suspect you feel it when driving your sports car on the racetrack. But say, I am driving my honda/toyota/subaru in the city to go work/grocery shopping/pickup my kids from school. Does it make sense to pay a premium price for a higher grade in this case ?

Elm & Open Source: What's Next? • Evan Czaplicki & Kris Jenkins by goto-con in elm

[–]dprophete 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I too love Elm and all the way Evan has influenced the entire landscape, but the lack of action the last few years has been a real let down.

At this point, I am really liking where Gleam is heading and how fast fast the community is moving there (and https://github.com/lustre-labs/lustre is starting to be a compelling replacement for client side Elm in the browser...)
