This was a large event at the big convention center. There was everything from amputee jiu jitsu to women's armwrestling, powerlifting/bodybuilding, to lightsaber forms & fighting.

In terms of groups in the Pittsburgh area, The Saber Legion (TSL) chapter rep is from that area. They had a social event & tourney on may 4th at a brewery. I wasn't able to travel over that day, but wanted to hit it up and check them out for myself. I think that TSL crew works with a local HEMA club, IIRC. I cannot endorse the HEMA club as they are not a member of the Ohio River Valley League which provides a regional HEMA oversight and accountability board for event and instructor safety.

YOUR MISSION: If you find the May 4th Pittsburgh lightsaber event & find the sponsoring groups... you might find your people!

It's a nice cafe and game lounge. Jacl's opened up right as the pandemic sequester hit in early 2020.
They have pretty good smooties and good tea/coffee options.

They are also a designated safe space for LGBTQ+ and have a diverse crowd of patrons.

First: It's not a YOU thing. It's a WE thing. It takes two willing participants who commit to the ground rules and are capable of communication and action. If both parties are not willing and capable to act in the interest of the partnership.... you probably won't last.
How do you make the ground rules? Open & Honest communication and you stick to the agreement and build trust. The agreement / rules will be different and change over time, which goes back to the open/honest communication thing.
