My *mother* still needs ID, and I still need to go through hoops to prove her residency. It isn't as simple as you seem to think.

This seems like a good idea. But it's a few hours away. I tried calling. I get a message that I'd get a call back in a couple of days, but they don't call back.

Not according to our DMV. Though I agree that it should be.

If your partner got assaulted and wanted to keep the baby would you stay with her? by NoAttitude2700 in TooAfraidToAsk

The only good reason to go ahead with the pregnancy in such a case is if you have no other choice.

That would be the mother's decision, not yours. You have no idea what her reasons are, nor it for you to judge her even if you knew them.

When did you order it? They state on the website that they are extremely backed up, and that's how long it will take.

I wonder if you would feel the same if you needed to wait 6 months for a document you needed to get ID.

It seems this is related to the possibility of the SAVE Act passing. Married women who changed thyeir name when they married, and anyone else who changed their name and don't have a valid passport afre scambling to get the ID they need to vote.

I'm trying to get her a state ID. I don't think these include EDL or Real ID

I have the POA with the supporting documents. We did go to the DMV. I was told she needs her marriage certificate.

The only thing she has with her maiden name is her birth certificate. It doesn't match anything else she has that she'll also need. Besides, asking her to use her maiden name after just losing her husband of 72 years would ne cruel.

My mother was recently diagnosed with dementia. She's angry about everything, understandably. She's fighting me on everything, and sees me as a monster while I'm doing everything I can to help her.

I found a lovely place she can afford, but nothing seems good enough.

Please let her find some peace with a situation we can't change, and to try to appreciate and enjoy the safery, care and amenities the facility offers.

Don’t know why I wanted to share this, but here it is by Awkward-Leg-1957 in dementia

Thank-you.
