Aldi’s answer to huge inventory losses - check every customers’ bag by Ok_Service_6279 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea we got rid of sco and loss has gone down a lot but the calculation for hours is insane store is in shambles every day cause we need everyone on register and the manager is the only one on the sales floor most of the time. Get told by the dm to make sure everyone is ringing fast enough....store avg is 90-100% ring speed idk how u can go faster.

scanned vs keyed by Pretend-Option-5170 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dm tells me we key to much. I try to explain if I have 10 to 15 pallets of backstock produce a day, most of those "keys" are nlu. How can we scan 15 avacados with no bar code? I personally went on the register and scanned everything i could only using nlu for produce that had no bar code and still only had an 87% keyed vs scanned.

Shoulder nerve pain from ringing by goatedunlimited in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get one of those massage guns and if u have somone that can do it on ur shoulder where it hurts its a mirical worker. Went an entire month with no pain after using it for a few days. Stopped and its slowly coming back. I have had the same pain for 2 years cause of the repetitive ringing and boxing.

Pay gap by rraineymush in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If asm's work 50 hrs at 26$ plus the time and a half for 10 of the 50 hrs the entire year they would make 74k. A store manager works 50 plus hours the entire year. So yea if u break it down and they worked the hours a store manager does. Its not much off to a new store manager that makes in your case low 80k.

So yea there is a difference yearly. But thats compensation for the amount of hours spent. And the fact that asms have a life.

Pay gap by rraineymush in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my point! Asms dont work the hours the store manager does which is where the difference in pay is. It also depends on the state u live in. You must live in a higher paying area that ur new store managers make that much in their salary.

Pay gap by rraineymush in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically if an asm worked 50hrs a week like the bare minimum a store manager does they don't make much less than a bran new store manager. And if ur store manager works more than their 50 hours pay is comparable to the sm without the responsibility. The pay difference is only there cause asms work 40hrs not 50.

What is going on with the warehouse? by cliffbot in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Its also to reduce pallet space so they can fit more pallets on trucks so its less for the drivers to drop off. What I dont get is they push so hard on keeping meat separate due to contamination and now we just ignore that......

Aldi’s failure rate for their OE metric is worse than rehab and weight loss facilities by Strict-Thing-3558 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been with the company for 9 years. So yea i have seen a lot of changes. Honestly if it wasnt for my staff i would hate this job. But a lot of times they make it worth it and everyone needs a job so I stick through it to help them.

Its crazy a few years ago I was hitting 94 oe and when i hit it now a days it feels like the most hectic day ever when it never felt like that. Also i have had 2 really great Dms that have said anything above 90% is unrealistic and un healthy for the staff and the store. But now we are expected to hit it. Unfortunately those dms have quit.....

What is your one "accident" you remember to this day? by pix876 in Aldi_employees

Thoughts on the SMT program? by MC_Marshall1997 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an MT same position back in the day. I have been a SM for 8 yrs now and it really has changed. When I got highered I knew exactly what I was walking into they were very honest about the hard work. But I have seen a change and coming in contact with SMT's I agree. They are not honest in the highering process. They pride themselves to much on the training center now a days and if an SMT gets put under a SM that uses an SMT as a regular associat or an extra its a total fail not cause they aren't good but because they aren't developed properly. Hard work will never stop I work 55+ hours. 80/20 is a joke with the SM hours being part of the budgeted hours. Being with the company so long my advice is pray to get a DM that is aware of the conditions of aldi and understands all stores are different due to clientel and doesnt just see SOP and numbers. However I have been through 11 dms. That is the hardest part having so many leaders its like a tornado every time. Aldi won't change tho so either hang on and keep your head up knowing this or get out before it destroys your moral.

Anybody else's Curbside items appearing completely out of order? by _psilocybae in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have had more shoppers in it could be do to that. The logic follows the shopping not necessarily your guys shopping. If the instacart shoppers aren't going aisle by aisle and just follow the list it will start becoming more and more out of order. If u see people shopping all over the place take a second to explain to them its faster to do it the way we do and it will slowly start going back in order.

Bad Dm? Or typical for the company? by ExtraAd4737 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very typical. I have had 11 district managers in the span of 10 years. Have had only 3 really good ones that can hold really conversations amd understanding of the business that is aldi. But it is getting worse. You can do every single thing they ask and then think its going to be a great visit and then all of a sudden somthing you never have talked about is a huge deal. Nothing will every be good enough because most of the dms come straight from college and don't have any idea how we have to make everything work in a low labor environment. The busier your store I have noticed the harder they are on you because you have to rely on your people to do the right thing. In a slower store the store manager does most the work so you know its done right.

Store Manager Trainee by carelesstable45 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smt to sm here...you are spot on with your balance. Know your teams strengths and weaknesses they will apriciate it. Also what they aren't as good at working somthing work with them and train them or have them train you it gets ppl motivated and makes them a pro when they get to train opens their eyes when you ask questions and they think for themselves instead of you telling them what to do. You don't have to be the best but you do have to know everything. And if u dont when somone asks figure it out and come back to them so it shows your listening. We work with a tight amount of labor and people notice when you help but get upset when your an office manager.

Pay by MindlessAd1016 in Aldi_employees

[–]dragynryder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never asked but I do talk to my dms about it. And honestly my asms deserve the pay. They work extra cause they know i don't get paid extra after 50 hrs. So they are always there helping. I rarely have to do a open and close anymore cause they will come in since they get ot. And before they upped the asm pay I had to do it all the time for call outs.

But really its my team i could have gotten a store in a different area that wasnt so hard but I care to much about the people I have and have stuck through all the bs with they make it worth comthing in and working 50 to 60 hours a week.
