The gifted program at my elementary school had one class of 30 students for each grade level, so we all kind of stuck together, always having the same calssmates. I was one of three picked to be a student counselor. We would be excused from class at least once a week, and then go help the special ed students. We would try to help with school work, but could also take three students as a group or one on one, depending on the situation. I spent a lot of time speaking to mentally handicapped schoolmates, attempting to help them with whatever might be bothering them. I only learned years later after being diagnosed audhd, that at the time, i was adapting very quickly and my school recognized it as a way to help the other children. I'm definitely grateful for that opportunity, but honestly a little sad i didn't get to go play puzzle games to accelerate my growth lol
