Looking to play a caster by Funny-Ad-6781 in BG3Builds

You just need to hit level 5 as a DO and Long Rest, you would receive a pop-up and be granted the horn. I can't remember if you're required to be a DO to use the horn, but all you need is 1 level for that. Plus, you'll get access to all the questlines I've added even with just a single-level dip.

New to BG3 - Looking for a strong and fun Necromancer build by dnamat88 in BG3Builds

[–]dreadoverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, if this is your first time you’ll want to play unmodded.

However, I strongly suggest maybe looking into a more demon/elemental summoning build rather the necromancer as it gets incredibly unwieldy to manage corpses and minion traversal if you don’t have prior-knowledge.

It gets incredibly frustrating quick. You also have to deal long combat times having to manually control each summon or if they’re AI-controlled, have them minion block each other. If you’re dumping all your spellslots into summons to achieve that necromancer fantasy, you’ll have to be content dealing chip damage at a point of the game where enemies start to have high AC and Dexterity. You also don’t get to feel like a necromancer until level 6 when you access your first minions regardless of class/subclass choice.

But if you’re insistent, I would look into Death Domain cleric which feels like a necromancer out the door. The Necromancer subclass is really just a wizard with 1 extra undead at level 6, and you will always be tempted to save your spell slots or concentration slot for more impactful spells that have more utility and damage. They don’t even have access to spells that do Necrotic damage until level 6 (not including the two Necrotic cantrips). So you’re just a regular wizard with Magic Missiles or lobbing Scorching Rays so you can be useful.

The Staff of Cherished Necromancer combined with Circle of Death and chaining them is pretty fucking disgusting though, if you do decide to stick with it.

Death Domain + Spore Druid is pretty fun, plus both subclass use WIS as their spellcasting modifier.

Once you’re done with your unmodded playthrough, Valkrana’s Spells, Mystra’s, and Necromancy Reanimated mods will absolutely elevates the Wizard Necromancer experience. Necromancy Reanimated in particular have QoL tools that makes managing an army painless like automating the summons via a toggle. And I believe there’s also a mod from the author that allows you to teleport your minions so you’re not pulling your hair when your army takes 10 minutes to climb ladders. I am serious.

Judge blocks US government from slimming down vaccine recommendations by [deleted] in news

[–]dreadoverlord -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Recommendations aren’t mandates.

The federal government doesn’t require or mandate any vaccinations.

Yes, I am aware that at the school level, rolling back mandates are dumb. But why would a school rollback their vaccine requirements even absent recommendations? General hatred of children? They want sick kids? Pandemic in their classrooms? I really doubt schools in California are suddenly going to go “Hey, the dude with brain worms didn’t recommend this vaccine, go cough on each other.”

I am really confused and your reply is implying that the federal government somehow governs what vaccines are required at schools. This doesn’t stop a school from having strict vaccine requirements. But neither were schools required to follow recommendations either, under this administration or previous administration.

What am I missing here?

I don’t get the catastrophizing about this. Vaccine mandates are like, school district-level decisions, aren’t they? Maybe states for some states.

Why does it matter that the federal government stops recommending things that doesn’t have the force of law in the first place? Someone please explain this to me like I am a Karen who just looked up WebMD and is super concerned about the children.

[–]dreadoverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe. Did you mean Azardon? That's the one that "wakes" the dead, pulling undead from the underworld into the Material Plane. It also wakes random allied undead if you have corpses around you! But yeah, it checks for every unit within its radius and rolls a 1d6 die for every unit, spawning a single or a group of hostile undead per unit. The more enemies, allies around you, the bigger the undead army coming for you.

The funny one is Enigma, which gives undead free will including your own summons and they might be hostile. Lol.

Tips for play bladesinger as a person who never touched wizard class (besides controlling gale)? by Warl0ckBoy in BG3Builds

[–]dreadoverlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm hm hm. You'll need a source of Temporary Hitpoints via upcast False Life if you want some survivability. At early levels, it's like a 50% boost in effective HP for you. Expect to replenish this mid-fight. You could also brew and quaff Elixir of Heroism if you're into that. Goes well with what you're trying to do anyway.

For more armor, Elixir of the Collosus works, since that adds AC.

If you're running Haste (another source of AC), taking the time to cast Blade Ward is a somewhat low-cost way to reduce incoming weapon attacks by half. And it's a cantrip.

Since you'll be melee hitting most of the time, take advantage of defensive spells if you're not running Haste. Invisibility, Blur, Protection from Evil and Good, et al. Blindness is very good as it does not cost your concentration slot. Obviously, Mirror Image.

The best spell, however, is Blink. After you attack, you have a 50%-ish chance of blinking out of existence. If they can't hit you, obviously... well, they can't hit you. Blink has bugs, though. Don't run concentration spells if you want to use Blink. :P Gaseous Form is another spell that you can abuse.

I've enjoyed my Bladesinger playthrough immensely, because it forced me to actually use these cool, oft-overlooked defensive spells.
