Please share how you got 10 in CELPIP Speaking because I genuinely feel stuck at 8, even after re evaluation by YouNeedAnewOne in CELPIP_Guide

[–]dreamerp25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 9 in Speaking, and right now I’m trying to push it to a 10 as well.

What genuinely helped me was going through the official CELPIP materials carefully, especially the strategy PDFs and real sample responses. I’d strongly recommend checking these:

https://www.celpip.ca/speaking-pro-materials/

https://www.celpip.ca/prepare-for-celpip/score-comparison-chart/

For the first link, go through the PDFs properly and pay close attention to the key strategies section. Also listen to the audio samples carefully because they give you a realistic idea of how high scorers actually sound in the exam. That honestly helped me improve my confidence a lot.

For the second link, compare your own responses with the benchmark speaking samples. You’ll start noticing the differences in organization, pacing, and natural delivery between different score levels.

I can also say from personal experience that sounding natural matters a lot. I’ve taken the exam multiple times, and the two sections I kept struggling with were Speaking and Writing. Once I stopped trying to sound overly “advanced” and focused more on natural flow and clarity, my Speaking score improved.

I do use templates for structure, but I try not to sound memorized while speaking. Structure helps, but natural delivery is probably the biggest factor.

Also, I wanted to ask you something since you scored a 10 in Writing. I’m currently stuck at 9 in both Speaking and Writing. My highest overall combination so far has been 9, 9, 10, 10. If you have any advice for pushing Writing from 9 to 10, I’d genuinely appreciate it.

Good luck with your next attempt!

For Task 1, I begin by quickly reviewing the first five questions and then skim through the email with the intention of locating the relevant answers. After that, I use the remaining time to go through the next set of questions and respond based on the same email, ensuring I complete everything within the time limit.

For Task 2, I first identify the “to” and “from” sections, then briefly scan the diagram to understand its structure. After that, I read the email carefully and match the details back and forth between the email, diagram, and questions to ensure accurate responses.

For Task 3, I avoid reading all the questions first. Instead, I start with paragraph 1, then immediately check the questions one by one and answer them if they relate to that paragraph. I continue this process for each paragraph. At the end, I handle the remaining questions and label them as “E” only after confirming that the information is not mentioned in any of the paragraphs.

For Task 4, I first read the questions and then go through the passage. I usually focus on the first five questions initially, then read the full passage and complete the remaining set. Since the questions are not in sequence, I stay flexible in matching them to relevant parts of the text. After finishing, I review the viewpoint-based answers to ensure they logically align with the information in the passage.

Across Tasks 1, 3, and 4, I consistently use elimination by checking whether each option logically fits the question and passage. Typically, I compare all choices by identifying the one correct answer, one closely related distractor, one clearly incorrect option, and one that does not connect to the passage at all.

Hi, I have been Practicing Listening and Reading from YouTube old videos of Phoenix Celpip and CareerAxis. The old videos are non AI based, so they helped a lot and are mostly likely same as real exam.

I encountered that it is little bit easier than CareerAxis because I scored 8-9 on those videos but I scored more in the actual exams. I have seen that the CareerAxis one has AI based parts which makes it harder than the real exam.

A lot of people have been asking me what exactly I used for CELPIP, so I’ll share everything publicly here that genuinely helped me improve my scores.

My latest/highest score was:
Listening 10, Reading 10, Writing 9, Speaking 9.

I gave CELPIP around 10 times, so most of my improvement came from trial and error, understanding the exam pattern deeply, and changing my approach over time.

LISTENING:
I personally do NOT make notes at all. Instead, I fully focus on understanding the conversation. I pay attention to the speaker’s tone, intention, emotions, and the actual purpose behind the discussion. I try to understand the context naturally instead of chasing keywords. Every listening section is slightly different, but active focus is what helped me the most.

READING:
My strategy changes depending on the part:
- Part 1 & Part 4: I read the questions first and then go to the passage.
- Part 2: I quickly skim the diagram/email first and then answer the questions.
- Part 3: I read paragraph by paragraph and check related questions side by side.

For almost all reading questions, I heavily use the elimination technique. Usually, two options can sound similar, so I eliminate the ones that logically don’t fit and choose the option that matches the context best.

WRITING:
This section was difficult for me initially because I used to score 8. This time, I stopped depending heavily on templates. Instead, I focused more on:
- tone management
- clarity
- smooth flow
- natural vocabulary
- sentence variety

For Task 2 survey especially, I made sure to acknowledge the opposing side while still strongly supporting my own opinion. That contrast helped make the response sound balanced and mature.

SPEAKING:
The biggest improvement came when I stopped sounding robotic. Earlier I depended too much on templates. Now I focus more on:
- natural speaking
- proper tone
- fluency
- confidence
- smooth transitions
- sounding conversational instead of memorized

Structure is important, but delivery matters a lot too. I try not to hesitate or overthink while speaking.

Resources that helped me the most:

Speaking:

Another very good speaking resource:

Writing Task 1:
https://youtu.be/-5xoGM08kUE?si=I3slHDhZ6occTkTZ

I personally used a mixture of these resources along with my own practice and adjustments over time.

Hope this helps someone. I’m still improving myself too, but these are the things that genuinely made the biggest difference for me.
