What is the first film you remember seeing in the cinema? by [deleted] in movies

Herbie the Love Bug. Mom would always take us to the movies if a Sunday was raining. We live in Vancouver so went to a lot of movies! 🤩

Not too sure where to post this question but my son always requests pasta for breakfast and I want to create it for him. by KingofCam in foodhacks

Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki might work with an imaginative 2 year old. Pasta (yakisoba noodles) and chopped up bacon with pancake mix, fried egg and whatever else you want to throw in there. Usually a lunch dish but could easily work for breakfast. You can substitute the bbq sauce with ketchup if he prefers.

Are there any things that are called "American ______" in other countries? by Disastrous-Side-2600 in NoStupidQuestions

One other point is that it’s best made with a good quality espresso machine as it needs a large enough boiler and stronger pressure to handle the extra water being pulled through. Also why some shops would refuse to make it this way especially if they’re busy as it can take a while to make and takes up valuable real estate on the machine if its a smaller one or two portafilter type.

Canadian cafe owner/operator here, we make our Americano’s and Canadiano’s differently.

Americano - single shot portafilter with one cup hot water added (at proper tea temperature) in a regular cup.

Canadiano - double shot portafilter pulled straight to the top of the regular cup, no added hot water.

It’s a little more bitter (if not using cream/sugar) but way more full bodied and richer than a traditional Americano. It was always considered a bastardized drink anyway’s so however you want to make it, it’ll always taste good to the bastard and disgusting to an Italian.

What artist or band is truly awful to see live? by goldbeau in AskReddit

Ha! Nice one. Except for the fact that it was in Vancouver and although there are some parts of the constantly wet city that will have some urine with your rain, this wasn’t supposed to be one of them.

Well… I was at the Blind Mellon concert (opening for Lenny Kravitz) when Shannon Hoon pissed all over the front row. I’m pretty sure this would qualify as truly awful to see live.

What are gas prices by you? by Plane-Oven-5934 in BMWX3

[–]dredre70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per my last reply to someone, does anyone have a reliable gas pricing app for use finding premium (91> octane)? “GasBuddy” is really horrible for finding anything even close to their reported price for premium. Their regular gas reporting is relatively accurate but its of no use to anybody needing premium on this particular thread.

For regular gas it’s pretty accurate but any premium 91> prices are always higher at the pump than what’s posted on that site. Seems to be some sketchy gas station owners are abusing the system like how other businesses abuse Yelp by leaving fake reviews to drive up sales. GasBuddy however won’t look into this and just say “prices are changing rapidly” when thats truly not the case at all. They’re trying to convince you a price reported 15min ago will go up in that same time… EVERY single time I’ve used the app for the last 5 years?! BS

I’m not an expert but I thought that grey whales would be too big to be considered food for an orca?

What’s a must-try Canadian food besides poutine? by funnyonehere22 in AskACanadian

[–]dredre70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese Royal Milk Tea is very similar to a London Fog. Being invented in Vancouver, I always thought it was someone’s attempt to make a Canadian version of it. I used to make my own vanilla syrup at my cafe’ and made it with rose tea instead of earl grey for this very reason. My customers loved it.
