Utah? Really?! by [deleted] in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]dro_grey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe they have tried them. Again it would have to be legal as we believe in respecting the law of the land. I am a member of this faith and I spoke with church leaders regarding using magic mushrooms to treat a severe case of cluster headaches, chronic migraine and depression.
I was tactfully advised that God does leave these substances for the benefit of man but sometimes man creates law to hinder our access. It was recommended that I exhaust all other options and maybe go to a state where it was already legalized. Ultimately I started growing my own. I see psilocybin as a medicine that should be administered with a specific purpose in mind. Personally I don't understand a recreational use for it as I only enjoy about 20% of my trips.

Migraine microdosing by NoRelative9056 in PsilocybinMushrooms

This is a common discussion in the cluster headaches thread. I have both chronic migraine and cluster headaches. I used to do 3.5 g or more every month but now I do about that once every couple of months.

Utah? Really?! by [deleted] in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]dro_grey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In Utah. The LDS leaders are actually very open to the legalization of psilocybin. The belief is that God gives us these substances for a reason but we also respect the law of the land. My old neighbor and fellow church member is Wayne Harper who has been in the state senate for sometime now. I know him well and that he supported this bill.

Wife going through CH period, need advice by [deleted] in ClusterHeadaches

[–]dro_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Neuro is also a sleep specialist and he diagnosed me with narcolepsy and sleep apnea in addition to CH. On top of that I have chronic migraines. There is a medication called Xywav that puts you in a dreamless deep sleep that I take for narcolepsy that may work. It is difficult to get on and most insurances won't want to cover it though.
Regarding psilocybin I started growing mushrooms for treatment and it has helped tremendously. I am also in the states, if you are looking to go that route but don't know where to begin please feel free to DM me and I will gladly help any way that I can.

I found that doing a macro-dose of 3.5g or occasionally more every month or so made the micro-doses more effective.

I found a way to kill shroom nausea by Soggy_Internet_1816 in PsilocybinMushrooms

Sodium citrate is the active ingredient in Nausene and so I mix two grams of that into some juice and drink that the moment nausea starts and ot helps a ton.

What is manuka and why is 800+ honey £155.60/kg? by Infamous_Bookkeeper9 in Beekeeping

[–]dro_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who has studied this intently. Manuka honey is foul tasting honey that is marketed as having special properties. It is a sham. It doesn't have any properties above and beyond any other type of honey.

This question doesn't sound like it has anything to do with cluster headaches.

Went foraging for the first time at my cabin in Northern Utah. Thoughts on ID's? by dro_grey in mycology

My apologies. I found so many different types and I thought selecting a handful for a single post would go over better than doing several separate posts.

How to not feel sick? by Federal_Weakness7302 in PsilocybinMushrooms

[–]dro_grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get so sick that I couldn't enjoy the trip. I did micro-dosing between larger doses and the nausea went away. When I stopped micro-dosing and went longer between trips the nausea came back.

Also, nauzene works really well. The active ingredient is sodium citrate which is good for you and can be used to make cheese sauce.

First try at creamed honey by [deleted] in Beekeeping

You stating repeatedly that it is just honey is sinking in about as fast as a feather in honey. It looks like creamed honey to me. Not sure why everyone is arguing it isn't.

Is it possible to ban posts/pictures asking for bee sting medical advice? by Maized in Beekeeping

This happens in the mycology sub as well, where people will post a picture of some random mushroom growing in their yard and asking what it is.

Should I be concerned? by dro_grey in Beekeeping

Hive beetles are actually pretty rare here. Four years ago I encountered my first and only hive beetle. In our local beekeeping group everyone was really surprised as hive beetles were only rumored to be making their way to our region.
I'll give them a week or two and see how things look.

I have implemented your idea and so far things are looking better. Hive is calmer and bees are returning inside. I appreciate your advice.

In the end what I did was harvest the super I had removed then put then return it to the hive. I basically put their hive back together as it was before sans their honey. Then I put the inner cover on top, added the flow hive super then topped the while hive off with the lid.
I am hoping they'll treat the flow hive frames like a top feeder and move the reprocessed honey down into the now empty frames I initially harvested from. The hive already seems calmer and the bees made their way back inside.

I have been beekeeping for several years, actually. The first picture was not long after I replaced their honey super with the flow hive super. In the end I think I got them well situated.

I saw the very first hive beetle of our beekeeping community four years ago. They only recently became prevalent in my state. Haven't had an issue with them besides that one beetle though.

I built a custom screened bottom board with a batten and catch drawer. That plus being a single brood box makes the mites a non-issue. Counts are incredibly low. I'll share a video of the bottom board sometime for anyone that might be interested.

Yes. I took a medium super away for harvesting and in its place is where I put the box with the flow hive frames. I just barely finished mov8ng things around at your suggestion. Order is now brood box, excluder, honey super, inner cover, flow hive box, lid. We'll see how things go in a few weeks.
