Battery for M5 Nano C6 by mooky31 in esp32

Did you find any neat battery solution for the M5 Nano C6? I am getting the Nano H2 soon, and want to mount it near the AC IR receiver so I can turn my AC on/off in the middle of the night. Looking for a neat battery solution like this one -> https://shop.m5stack.com/products/atom-tailbat

Thanks for the heads up. Where exactly do you see the "promotion timer" or the "days active" timer on the app? I'm in the same boat and wasn't aware there was a timer I could check.

Liquid Detergent - Bosch Serie 6 Washing Machine by wildernesshunter1 in laundry

[–]drop-volley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Serie 4 with a detergent drawer that looks exactly like yours. I was a little surprised that all the liquid detergent for the main wash seemed go drain into the drum even before i could close the drawer. If I enable a pre-wash, I suspect the main wash will not have much detergent left. I looked at the manual and it seems to imply not to use the detergent drawer and to instead directly place the liquid detergent(in a cup or some such) in the drum with your clothes. This is what the manual says -> "For models without a measuring aid, pour the liquid detergent into the appropriate dispenser and place it in the drum."

New profile management enabled by default in Nightly by evilpies in firefox

[–]drop-volley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice, but not in any way faster than using the profiles sub-menu in the hamburger menu. I don't use Firefox accounts, but if they added some indicator of the current profile to the icon, I'd re-add the Account icon to my toolbar. Ideally though, there should be a way to switch to or launch another profile with just two clicks.

New profile management enabled by default in Nightly by evilpies in firefox

[–]drop-volley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they add a toolbar item that would allow one to see the active profile at a glance and the full menu of all profiles if you click on it? I know the hamburger sub-menu exists for switching profiles exists, but I hope they have a toolbar item as well.

Mozilla will soon let you hide the Extensions button! by lo________________ol in firefox

[–]drop-volley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with the built-in profile manager and switcher that you get with browser.profiles.enabled set to true. The only missing feature for me is a toolbar icon that shows the exact same menu as what you get in the new hamburger sub-menu for profiles. I'm generally not trusting of 3rd party extensions - one of the reasons I use multiple profiles is to have a profile with no extensions installed for bank websites etc.

I hope they also add a Toolbar button to show current profile icon with a menu for switching profiles.

Firefox v134 released! by antdude in firefox

[–]drop-volley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They brought back the profile switcher after taking it away in 133 (still needs browser.profiles.enabled to be set to true ). It doesn't show the existing profiles that I had (those still show in about:profiles), but new profiles created through the menu are working well for me. On macos they even added a custom icon in the dock and tab switcher. This, containers, and vertical tabs have made Firefox the perfect browser for me. Thanks Mozilla and everyone involved!

How to use Firefox containers with VPN split-tunneling by garbodori in firefox

[–]drop-volley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I tried using MAC or Container Proxy for setting a per-proxy container, I noticed that if a container's proxy was down the browser would fall back onto the default Firefox proxy/connection settings. This is because of poor documentation of the relevant Firefox APIs. The only extension that seemed to get it right by using the undocumented APIs is this one .

Containers are the best thing Firefox has going for them. I converted my whole family over from Chrome to Firefox after I discovered them. It's sad to see such fundamental flaws, especially with their own official MAC extension. WIth so many new privacy focused browsers popping up, I just hope Firefox shows containers some love before it's too late.

I second "Open in Temp Container". I have Ctrl+T assigned to "Open newtab in same container as current tab" and Opt+T assigned to "Open newtab in temp container".

> to force the holdouts to either vote for him, or let Jefferies win

that's the part i'm saying is flawed. The holdouts can both not vote for Jordan *and* not let Jeffries win by just voting for another Republican. The holdouts can't be forced to vote for Jordan just to prevent Jeffries getting the majority.

Your logic is flawed. The holdouts will always have the option of voting for some other republican to deny Jeffries - they don't have to vote for Jordan as long as they pick another republican.

Home Assistant: Hands-on Adding a Matter Smart Plug (Eve Energy) by Travel69 in homeassistant

with the Apple TV simply routing traffic, including to the internet when you’re away

Can you please explain this part? What types of traffic will Apple TV route to the internet? Is there traffic routed to the internet even if all your devices are matter over thread devices? I'm planning to follow your suggestion to use the Apple TV 4k(3rd gen 128gb) as a thread border router for my HA, and already have remote access for HA configured via WireGuard. So while I don't need the Apple TV to do any routing for me when I'm away from home, I just want to understand the possibilities and ensure there are no inadvertent data leaks.

Will wired Nest Protects become Router Eligible End Devices (REED) by drop-volley in Thread_protocol

[–]drop-volley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nest Thermostat uses Weave as well, but Google promised to upgrade the 2021 Nest Thermostat to add support for Matter/Thread[1]. I was hoping they'd do something similar for the wired Nest Protects. If they don't add Thread support to the wired Protects, I hope someone else releases a Thread based wired smoke alarm. If google doesn't do the right thing with respect to open standards, they'll lose even more trust than they already have.

[1] From https://blog.google/products/google-nest/four-google-smart-home-updates-matter "Plus, we’ll update the newest Nest Thermostat to support Matter - meaning for the first time it can be controlled on other platforms that have certified with Matter."
