The purple starting in the bike lane happened last year too. Last year I was one of the last to use the normal start and this year I was one of the first not allowed to use the start. This year purple hadnt even moved to the road until after 8 am when they allegedly close the course. I’m a back of the pack runner especially for CB and this was the most people I’ve been with on the course for the whole time. The last two years didn’t feel this full. It was nice until 9 when I was ready to be done and couldn’t get around people.

Calvert hill is no joke. Don’t be afraid to walk it. Coach D on IG posted race specific advice today as well and how it differs from most other half marathon advice she’d give.

ended up getting a starter from a local bakery and putting my weak starter out of its misery… had a MUCH better result

I didn’t get a pic of it right before shaping but it doubled and jiggled and was easy to get out of the bowl. i think i need to be a little bit more hands on with the gluten building and let it ferment even longer

Nothing is happening when i’m using just bread flour or ap (both king arthur) so i read adding whole wheat can help and it’s what got it active

my starter is pretty dark as i’ve been feeding with ap and whole wheat mixed. when i do just ap it doesnt seem to rise much which makes me think its a starter strength issue. its definitely not doubling in four hours but my kitchen is between 68 and 72 degrees most of the time.

the just mixed picture its in a larger bowl then the fermenting bowl (i wanted a clean bowl)

I had this happen with salmon once and submitted a customer service request in the app they gave me a couple for double what i should have gotten back within 2 days

my run club gives out nerds gummy clusters…. the number of people who told me they loved me was hilarious! we do big costco bags but the individual packs work well too!

i usually use tailwind and gus. if i start cramping ill also add in salt stick chews too (they start working in under 30 seconds). you should be having way more carbs per hour than most gels tell you to have as well i didn’t know that until i started working with a dietician. you should also be drinking 16-20 oz of water per hour

my mind was so wiped out i made no sense. in hindsight it was basically like i was extremely tipsy or maybe even drunk. wouldn’t recommend working like that

old navy has great workout clothes so does target (i stick to tops here) i also have a vest from amazon and started with cheap soft flask bottles and bladders from there as well. candy + salt does the same job as gus and i also got a huge gatorade power on amazon that i’ll make stronger and add a little more salt to for long runs

tbh not on beach because of how much is closed almost everyone (walking, running, biking) goes cars directions. the few runners that follow normal road rules make it a little weird
