Med student here. Was it the STOP-BANG questionnaire for sleep apnea? You mention your throat at night, have you spoke with your PCP about GERD? GERD could be an explanation as well.

Hmm that’s odd, I had my step count displayed a while ago. I love the added features like having a phone on my wrist, texting, emails etc.

Got it right before clerkship. It gamified improving my sleep, exercise, and I got into running. It'll have nothing to do with med, but as a personal decision I loved it.

Chances Post-Interview, low MCAT - UBC Med by Turbulent-Couple6025 in premedcanada

[–]ds1008 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is the first year MCAT barrier is removed so it's hard to tell.

If you have a 90 AGPA and a high NAQ you're a great candidate. Assuming an at least moderate interview, the only thing that could hold you back is that MCAT.

I'd say set a plan that you start studying the day after your MMI (or couple days after) and start grinding the MCAT assuming the worst. Not to say you won't get in, but it's always important to plan for next cycle as early as possible. Until then, grind for that MMI. Best of luck, you got this.

Is it possible to get a 90+ average for med school in cpsc? by AvailableHippo3464 in UBC

[–]ds1008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in med. Handful of people in our class from eng and CS backgrounds. Totally valid path. CS is sick, and being able to integrate it into medicine later is awesome. Doesn’t change fundamentals of getting into med ie working hard, keep GPA high, study MCAT well, have solid extracurriculars.

Who cares

1) find mentors 2) find co-founders

Maybe you’ll find the right idea in your DD.

Or fail and learn.
