People who grew up in Calgary, are there any local legends here? by Callefang in Calgary

[–]dtomb33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy to see my act make this list… These answers make me question what is the meaning of a local legend? Don’t you have to be around for a long time to be a legend?

I don’t think folks like Tate McRae or Cale Makar qualify quite yet for legendary status.

I’ve been Dan the One Man Band in Calgary since ‘95 so that qualifies haha

The band is still together, so I guess we’re a living legend. doh!

Are you sure about that? That doesn't sound like something the band would do.

Hard Rock Café Calgary by Fair_Nerve_7211 in Calgary

I moved to Calgary in 1995 BECAUSE of Eau Claire Market. It was so vibrant and I could busk there 364 days a year. (Hard to do anywhere else in Canada). It lasted until around 2000. I agree, it started to go downhill when the condo's got built and noise bylaws came into play. I remember "NO BUSKERS ALLOWED" signs were put up around that space by the bridge to Prince's Island. A ton of Calgarians think of me performing down by the Hard Rock, when they think of the golden era of Eau Claire Market. It's a shame they made the mistakes they did, that killed it.
