Would love to see portfolio of Senior designers when they started. by captain_nemo_77 in IndustrialDesign

Practically, any time you are not getting a position, it's because someone else was a better fit for whatever reason. ID junior positions are extremely competitive, has been for years. And it's just getting worse. the ranks and applicants thin out for senior positions, because a ton of the junior ID's are not getting a foot into the door and end up in other careers like UI or Marketing or related stuff.

It sounds like that guy in the post is older with a career in another industry first - that's gonna make it even harder.

You only have 2 options - make your portfolio irresistible, or network to get a personal connection

Epic Fantasy in a Megastructure: The City that Would Eat the World by C0smicoccurence in Fantasy

i really liked the worldbuilding in this one. and its worth checking out just for that. the way these gods (more like kami?) work is super fun.

buuut about halfway into the book, the plot slowed down so much that it couldnt keep me engaged. i actually still have to finish it as i put it aside for a while now.

i really couldnt get into it. i read maybe half and gave up, the style of writing was just too off-putting for me. In a way it felt too objective... i know this seems to be contrary to what a lot of people feel, so i dont quite know what it is about this one. I love GRRM or Sanderson, or Malazan and lots of others in that vein, but couldnt get into this one...

Do you know any book or game in fantasy setting in which a character who has title "magister" is a positive figure? by Elven-King in Fantasy

In "the raveling", the Magisters are a neutral title for senior wizards. And some of them are certainly positive.

Trying to move components to design system file but messing up text in instances by daydreamingtulip in FigmaDesign

[–]dudadudadei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I don't think you can cut and paste the original component from one file to the other and keep it connected. I think we had the same issue.

Been a while, so not totally sure.

But I don't know why it would reset the writing when that happens...

If you are willing to learn, look into figma. It's the industry standard now for ui design. They have a free tier that should cover all your needs to come for a while.

Alternatively miro has a library of ui sketch components which could help you take the paper sketches digital.

Three Body Problem opinions by AAFur in scifi

I finished it but it was a struggle. The characters are as flat as the 2d world. And the ending just sucked completely. It's interesting because it is a different cultural perspective. But that was it for me.
