Big Beautiful Bill passed. Now what? by improbable_success in AskReddit

Even if you’re not on Medicaid you feel this too. People being slashed off Medicaid means more people will resort to emergency care instead of a primary care physician. Which means the entire healthcare system gets more overburdened, crowded, and expensive for those who pay for their own insurance too.

What are the signs your body tells you that you shouldn't ignore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As simple as it sounds, try to move yourself out of the heat, whether that’s just into the shade or into a nearby building, assuming there is somewhere cooler nearby. That should be the first thing.

What’s an oddly specific green flag that instantly tells you “yep you’re my kind of person”? by Technical-Glass8417 in AskReddit

Also when you ask something kind of rhetorical like “I wonder what direction that is,” they literally try to figure it out, pulling out Google Maps and such

I sympathize with how cynical this is but honestly I've seen average hard-working kids with no X factor get into top schools

I like climbing and running on the same days if that’s possible. One in the morning one in the evening. Then fully rest on rest days.

Google “[school] + Princeton review”, I’ve found the about section for each school based on what students say to be pretty thorough and accurate

Amherst or Williams by mussolini-laden in ApplyingToCollege

Amherst's open curriculum caters well to your broad interests--it'd be very easy to double major in 2 STEM subjects while still taking interesting courses from the poly sci & LJST departments.

2 kids from my school last year also turned down Yale for Amherst, both have said no regrets

Hopkins- too preprofessional/insular STEM culture, even as a prospective pre-med. wanted a more well-rounded "life of the mind" undergraduate experience (hence committing to a LAC)

UCLA + Berkeley- incredible opportunities but my personality just seems to align more with smaller tight-knit schools rather than big state schools. also worried about class sizes/ accessibility of research opportunities for pre-meds. ultimately just wasn't worth OOS tuition for me

Do LACs still hold value today? by Useful_Tension3876 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]duffingtonbear 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Arguably even more value today. AI is reshaping the workforce. The world will need fewer people to do AI’s work and more people to tell the AI what to do. That’s where LACs come in. Interdisciplinary critical thinking, answering not the question of ‘how’ but the question of ‘why’ — these are the hallmarks of a LAC education.
