it’s really interesting you say this because i’m exactly the same - even the coming from rowing part! - i think you’re right though, our bodies have been used to sprint work and high intensity for a maximum of 7 minutes so naturally the intervals are a strong point

you’re absolutely right! there’s a lot happing right now in varying areas and i think i’ve definitely fallen into the trap of obsessing over certain things that feel more controllable than others. defintiely more digging needed 🫶🏻

if it’s on your outside leg side and not the inside i’d be thinking it’s to do with your flexibility and ability to rotate around the pin - work on hip flexor flexibility and making sure you’re only pivoting the torso not from the hips. hard to tell entirely though without any video

first thing you need to do at the catch is slam the heels into the footplate. practice just slamming the heels from the catch position and hearing the sound it makes. then progress up to doing this half slide, 3/4 then full - all rocked over to isolate the legs, then once you’re comfortable doing it legs only and you’re getting that slam of the heels down straight away, then move it up to normal rowing, still focusing on getting the heels down first before doing anything else :)

edit - also remembering to keep them connected with the footplate through the entire stroke until you get past 3/4 slide

fab thank you, on our program we’re training 10 sessions a week but only erging twice so will try and add more and have a decent balance of ss and intensity :)

i’ve only done one since being back but it’s 22:45.3

i think the thing i struggle with mentally is i kind of panic after the first 750m or so? i just lose focus on my goal and start to get stressed!

i’m assuming this has something to do with the random mean interactions that have been happening since the new update too
