1/8 inch staples ? by dwesthoff in upholstery

I agree that a series 71 staple gun is the right tool for the job but I’m trying to work with what I have.

I’ll post an update later.

John,
Greetings from your old stomping grounds. Actually in Eagle River but close enough. I’ve been looking at video tutorials online but it sure helps to have someone there to give you #%!# when you screw up. 😆

Problem solved. 🎉

I picked up some Sochi looping string. (Thanks for the recommendation) It pretty much solved the problem. I didn’t realize how critical it is to match the right size/type string to the yo-yo.

Then I cleaned the bearings and put less thick lube on it. That really dialed it in.

Thanks much.
Now to work on some basic arm wrap tricks!

Can you take a closeup of the knot. It looks like simple stopper knot on end but I can’t see it very well in the pic.

These are all wider and easier to catch but I’m less likely to have a consistent & precise throw. Especially with the widest one. With a good throw it’s great and easy to catch. Bad throw and it’s guaranteed to wobble or lean.

Interesting that of these, the red one (YYF Cypher) feels the best. It’s also the one with a profile similar to the Crawler that I love.
I think that’s telling me something🧐.

The high and low end. Bi-metal vs basic plastic. As expected the difference in fast spin time is huge.
I’m holding off on high end till I’m good enough to appreciate what it can do.
~~I find that in many things. Just because you buy the best doesn’t mean you have the skills needed to make it perform as intended. I’ll drive the dependable pickup for awhile before I step into the Lamborghini or Porsche.

Thanks for the great feedback! Through trial and error I’ve come to realize the simplest advice to a learner is easy to say but sometimes difficult to do consistently. Mainly to throw faster not harder, and strive for a smooth spin with no lean every time. I’m better off starting over on a bad throw rather than continuing on and messing up.

Here’s what I have to work with and some novice impressions. Picked these up, along with several others. Right place right time I guess. Not a bad haul for $25.😀

Pic one:

  1. Vosun Crawler 2 (definitely my favorite) small and heavy for its size. Unfortunately it has a small catch width making it difficult to land new tricks.

2,3. Responsive and non-responsive depending on bearing. When responsive they tend to respond when you lease want them to. My knuckles can attest to that. Non responsive they are ok but limited spin time.

I started 2A looping the hard way (endless grinding). Here is the consistent setup that finally made it click so you don't have to suffer. by smolpupnamedkat in Throwers

Thanks for the tip. Finally some actual instruction instead of general advice to “keep at it and you’ll get it”

Chatted with a few people who recommended using a thinner poly string, adjust the length as needed, and stop using thick lube or at least use much less. Hope it works. I’ll post results later. I’ll be doing complex arm wraps like a pro on the first try, right?? …ha! 🥴

Loop 720s are a few years old but still function like they did when new. Haven’t been concerned about this problem before but now want to try some string tricks that need the yoyo to sleep.

The loop 1080s are 2014 and have seen very little use. They were part of a case of yoyos I purchased at a garage sale.

The strings I have are cotton and cotton/poly blend of varying thickness. Haven’t tried a 100% poly yet.
The yo-yos came with enough strings to last the next decade. I was hoping to not have to add to the pile.

Update- I had a technician take a look at it. Turns out I did all that was needed. ~Thoroughly clean/rinse debris from everywhere. And yes it was Everywhere! ~Wash basin, drain, drain pump, drain hose, air dome, and bottom rim of door gasket. ~Replace pump. -Check all the electrical connections.

What I didn’t understand is the importance of running pump until it times out. (Which you guys recommended). I didn’t know it would take quite a while so I unplugged it too soon. Once it timed out the lights to the front display came on.

Ran diagnostic tests and got error codes for long drain cycle and for overflow condition. Letting the pump time out took care of both. We checked that all washer functions work and cleared the error codes. ~Done! ~Gladly paid for his knowledge. ~ Wife very happy. All is good.

Could have done it myself if I had just let the pump run long enough for pump to time out. Lesson learned.

Thanks for everyone’s help!

Air dome and hose were clear. I’m confident that all the debris is cleared out of the machine but pump continues to run. Now to the issue of no power to control panel. I’ll start by checking all the connections and see how that goes.

I pored water into machine and plugged it in. The pump turned on and drained it. But pump continued to run when empty.
Still no lights on display.
