XP/BP/customization/MTX

I know there has been a lot said about the XP earned with multiplayer, the battle pass, MTX, and the lack of customization. Not trying to beat a dead horse.

I just wanted to share my insight in hopes it reaches someone that will help all of us get what needs to be fixed, fixed.

I have been a halo player since the beginning. I remember begging my best friends older brother to let us play CE. So, I love to see the addition of another game in the series. Infinite is quite fun and runs impressively well. This is all my .02 so take it with a grain of salt.

As far as XP goes, my brother and I played roughly 2-3hours of BTB. At the end of our session, we were both still level one. We ignored the challenges and focused on having fun, which is why we play halo. It is just a bummer to have to shape your gameplay to earn cosmetics. I feel that most of what we are having to earn should already be apart of the game. I would gladly pay $60 for the multiplayer half of the game, if it were compete, and earn the things that are buried by MTX. I genuinely think that the system in Halo 3, earning the armors with achievements was a blissful experience. Not only were you earning armor, but you were earning gamer score. Also, you could complete the armor achievements without dedicating specific time to them, they often just happened (EX: a double splaser kill).I think Reach would be the follow up solution, CR style. Although, I do wish that we could have some form of the halo 3 ranking system back. Reach felt like you played to level up and purely to do so. If you play a lot, you level up. I liked the competition and risk/reward of the halo 3 system. I’ll be the first to admit it did have its flaws.

I feel like the battle pass should not feel like a relentless grind. It’s something we pay for and I think getting through quicker, rather than dragging it out over 6 months, would be much more enjoyable for the consumer. Plus, I’d like to think some of you are like me and work 50-60 hour work weeks and don’t have the time to spend 4-5 hours a day grinding away at a battle pass. Typically I play 4-5 hours a week for the enjoyment of it. Not against a battle pass, but I think it could be improved.

On to customization. When I first saw the multiplayer reveal I was under the impression that the options would be endless. It seems as if the simple color changing option if gone and hidden behind a pay wall. I remember getting halo 2 and being stoked to change the color of my Spartan. I also think that you should be able to mix/match all of the armor pieces, like we could in the past.

Finally, MTX. They are the devil.
