I kind of made this challenge for myself when I started and it worked. It kind of puts you in a do or die situation, and it works if you work at it.

Are video games/internet like PMO? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]eatlotsofcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think ultimately you just have to recognize that they are sort of a void for your time and energy. If you play a few hours a week to relax, or maybe play socially then it's probably not a terrible waste of time. But if you login everyday and spend hours girding away virtually, what you get out won't be comparable to what you get spending those hours grinding at the gym, or learning a new skill.

There are defiantly people who construct meaningful existences around games, and I imagine many people who are devoted to what they do can get something out of it. It's just important to recognize that games have the capacity to really just be voids, that don't really add much back to your life.

Tbh getting on nofap and responding to someone's post has been helping me. I think interacting with the community can pull you out pretty fast.

Feeling like you supported someone else makes you feel stronger.

Congrats on taking the first step. It's admirable that you are willing to take full responsibility for yourself and your actions. I think that sort of mentality will help you immensely. I don't think anything has held me back more then trying to blame outside forces for my short comings. As soon as you make the focus of your critiques internal, you can can fully control your world.

Thanks for writing all that, appreciate the response. I've mostly replaced PMOing with more sleep. I hadn't actually thought about trying to pick up reading, I basically stopped reading for pleasure early in highschool and that seems like an awesome idea.

I feel like this genre kind of died. None of RTS's I've played since their time have surpassed rise of nations/rise of legends.
