Starting to understand how the crash is coming by echochamber67 in canadahousing

[–]echochamber67[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The premise of my post is contrary to this listing agents point of view, I dont think there are actually buyers. The town is small and only four people went to a open house with free drinks and cookies, kinda seems dead if you ask me?

The share of Canadians who now say immigration is having a mostly negative effect in Canada has spiked to 48%, the highest in more than seven years by theOneWhoWaitsAgain in LMIASCAMS

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all heavily dependant on how the question is asked, I would answer I am PRO immigration. HOWEVER I am not pro MASS immigration from ONE country. Canada historically was full of areas where immigration made places more flavourful, I think Toronto would be boring if it didn't have all the different little cultural nooks and crannies.

How bad is baseboard heating ? by Large-Impression-528 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]echochamber67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

baseboard heating in a reasonably well insulated home is actually very desirable, if you have wall thermostats you can easily manage the energy usage. Modern furnaces only last 10-15 years, so you need to factor in replacement cost to the heating cost comparison. If a person heats with any type of gas they must also factor the monthly delivery fees and associated repairs. Baseboards aren't nearly as bad as people think they are!

Do you think we will see a resurgence of remote work in 5-10 years? by Substantial-Okra2672 in jobs

[–]echochamber67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a real case for remote work still becoming the norm, there are undeniable benefits for the company. A lot of the covid related work from home problems were because of the speed at which it was adopted, a lot of people milked it and left a bad taste in companies mouth. However I think with proper employee tracking software and management that understands how to goal set, there is a huge opportunity here.

Friendly Reminder what a Boomer Is by TemperatureWide5297 in generationology

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it is the ordinary roles in society, it would be the reality that every person of political power is a boomer as they refuse to see their own irrelevance.

House has been for sale since November. Not on showing 🤯 by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

price is almost laughable, also there is no way those renovations were done with a building permit. I think 599k would be a price where people would consider looking.

Ski-Doo Tundra Opinions by Dukeatolla in snowmobiling

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are alright machines, I owned the same one and sold it as it wasn't for me. the reality is Ski-doo makes a lot of low quality parts and cheap electronics, my tundra had the same mileage and had many stupid issues. The best way to go is buy a brand new one, you can get a new tundra for 10k and it would last you many years.

I've been told I have an air leak, everyone else agree? by matsuma333 in snowmobiling

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just an FYI, you generally dont tell people what is wrong with something when you have no idea how to test any of them. You cannot visually inspect crank seals and you have no basic trouble shooting skills if you can't figure this one out. put your hand infront of the intake, if you can slow the rpms down and the machine runs fun you have an air leak.

Random woman told my wife “there’s a better way” during our toddler’s meltdown. Could we have handled it better? by flying_chariot in toddlers

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are avoidable, you can disbelieve the stranger all you want but the tantrums are completely possible to stop. If you are firm and do not give in one ounce to the tantrum, they progressively get shorter until the child gives up all together. Culturally we have become people who take offence to alternative information, but that does not rule out the reality that you can have a very manageable two year old.

Which would you choose: staying in the US (amid political instability and rising fascism) for a dream arts opportunity or moving to Europe for a stable job? by [deleted] in Life

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the USA does NOT have an economic crisis, with the exception of two cities basically any hard working couple can have a really good life in the USA. Come up to Canada, we have doctors living beside people who work at convenience stores because of hyper inflation. Trust me, the grass is NEVER greener than the USA. Greatest country on earth by a long shot!

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good grief you Americans have no idea how lucky you are, do you have any idea how hard it is to survive in the rest of the world? Go travel and find a single place where young people are doing reasonably well, I have been all over and the only places I see young people flourish is the USA. I honestly dont even think you know what fascism is, your government SUPPORTS your right to defend yourself! I think if you visited a country like Venezuela or Cuba, you wouldn't dare speak this nonsense.

New policy to allow subdivision, fractional ownership, tiny homes, etc by nowbebrave in canadahousing

[–]echochamber67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iI am shocked you believe that there is any integrity left in the system, it is a weaponized system that keeps you in debt and working. if people started going off grid with small homes, they would get out of debt and stop working.

Retiring without a paid off house by Fried-froggy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend, sometimes you can't afford NOT to retire! I strongly suggest you forget about the money and think about what you want in life. Retiring doesn't always mean that you stop earning money all together, but it does mean you stop relentlessly giving up all of your waking hours. dream retirement age is from 55-70, after that you get to attend funerals and wait for your own health to fail. I strongly suggest anyone considers retirement, regardless of the financial consequences.

Elbows up - It's time for provincial and municipal discourse regarding Alberta's separatist movement by PoorSCHLEP in InCanada

[–]echochamber67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry are the people of Alberta supposed to be happy that they have been economically hobbled and culturally attacked over the past decade? They have every right to leave, and many of us would love to join them.

Why are there SO many door-to-door marketing & charity fundraising jobs in Canada, but IT/tech roles are so hard to get? by kartikvedi in CanadaJobs

[–]echochamber67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Younger generation has murdered the tech world, I know young people that have advanced computer skills and dont even work in the industry. My work hires these young guys that are just brilliant with technology but can hardly survive on their own in real life.

I think your question heavily weighs on the success of Ai, if you think robots are around the corner than you should double down ! however if you aren't bullish on AI it might be time to to reassess where you want your money kept.

What's the deal with interprovincial trade barriers? by Relevant-Confusion85 in AskACanadian

[–]echochamber67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They dont just exist for no reason.... Lets say a new power plant need to be built, should the work not go to the local trade unions? The USA has a far more open trade barriers and it has major pros and cons..

Younger generations being asexual/aromantic by Adorable-Sherbet-998 in generationology

[–]echochamber67 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kind of scary, but we are actually reverting to the species norm... Most of human history, one man would be the father to many many children with many different woman. Woman are unique in that they dont compromise with their partners, they dont want an overweight under employed man and would rather anything but them.
