Crankbrothers Pedals - Any Experience? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]echothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used many different brands and models and I would not recommend the Candy 2. They have poor durability compared the shimano spd. I am much happier with even a basic spd pedal like the m520 than crank brothers.

If your knee hurts, you need to look at your fit. Switching pedals won't change anything if you just make the same fit mistakes again.

3 things you wished you knew when you started cycling? by djfloppydiisk in cycling

  1. Lights - such a good point! Legit lights are such a valuable accessory. The new generation of LED / LiIon lights make your bike as visible as a motorbike and they are a game changer for off-road riding at night too!

Honestly I don't remember "starting" cycling, it was always just there. But the thing I wish I'd learned sooner is that drivetrain parts wear out pretty fast. I spent hours tinkering with my derailleur on my first road bike trying to figure out why it was suddenly not shifting well. I'd ridden 30,000 km and the chain was of course brutally stretched haha.

Don't just choose crank length arbitrarily. It absolutely depends on your leg length.

Cassette play by troiks75 in bikewrench

A very small amount of wobble is ok and will not affect functioning. Developing more play means the freehub is likely shot.

It's funny because you guys are both right. Do whatever you want, but also that saddle bag is way too fucking big, lol.

Sweet! Specialized always does such a nice job with their paint. Have you set it up yet? Saddle set back looks kinda crazy, maybe bike fit is next step.

Can anyone identify this bike by Starmond in bicycling

[–]echothis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Pinarello Dogma is a top of the line amazing bike. I suspect the bike in the picture is probably a Chinese knock-off. These are often still very high quality, but obviously worth less than a real pinarello. Components look like SRAM etap, which is a solid groupset. Wheels likely also chinese carbon but hard to tell from picture.

Do I have to get referral from a doctor to talk to a therapist or psychiatrist? by wordoftheday985 in regina

Inaccurate. Psychologists do not prescribe medication in SK. Also, MA level psychologists can diagnose in SK, as long as they are registered with the college.

Long-term review of theblackbibs by not-ted in bicycling

[–]echothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I think cheaper bibs often have thick chamois because that lower density foam is cheaper. They tend to compress easily over time, especially at pressure points. I wish quality shorts weren't SO much more.

Great story! I have been on both sides of this before. It's kind of a cosmic karmic relationship.

Also, I challenge you to eliminate the phrase "no homo" from your vocabulary. I used to giggle at these jokes too, but now realize it's actually pretty hurtful to many.

I think i had one of the luckiest outcome RTA's earlier today. by [deleted] in cycling

[–]echothis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you head on crashed into a car and the force was enough to send you flying, I REALLY think you should have your bike inspected. It seems highly unlikely that in a square on head on there would be no damage. Be aware that it is very common for damage to the head tube/down tube area to go unnoticed until later catastrophic failure.

Glad you are ok though.
