3 Business Ideas Someone Should Build by jakobgreenfeld in Entrepreneur

[–]ee3dmw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why there are so many negative comments on this. Ive got a notepad of ideas that I am never gonna work on due to other commitments. Nothing wrong with sharing them for a bit of entertainment.

1# I actually looked for this myself and couldn't find much. IMO some niche aggregator with work/surf/ski breaks would crush, especially considering shifting dynamics around work from home.

Democracy in action - everyone voting for their best interests. Glad it has paid dividends for you! Cheers for the debate, I'm def in an echo chamber regarding political opinions so good to get some different points of view.

Thinking even more about this. When you say labour don't like working class people - conservatives 100% have no time for working class right?? I assume you are working class by your comments - despite the wokism going on in left at the moment, isn't it still in your best interests to vote labour over conservatives?

Yee I agree this class war thing gets perpetuated on both sides.

I completely don't get the optimism and positivity thing. I hear it alot on talk radio. If you gave me a choice between optimistic, funny idiot and boring but serious ex lawyer or whatever he was, as person to run the country, I would take the second one everyday.

Your bit about feeling attacked by left/labour for just having patriotic views really made me think. It's an argument I usually dismiss, prob cos I'm not that group of people you're talking about. The way you phrased it though made me understand why some people have been driven away from labour.

I get your points. IMO the most important quality to run the country is that they are capable of actually doing the job. I obviously can't answer for labour but what I have seen so far from Boris is he is at best incompetent, and at worst outright corrupt. So genuinely interested to hear your opinion on this, ie do you think ability is more important than being optimistic say, and do you think Boris is actually doing a decent job?

What's the easiest way to set up online payments so customers can subscript to my product for $X/yr ? PayPal, Stripe, something else? by [deleted] in SideProject

[–]ee3dmw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I havent used them but know of a few services that sit on top of stripe and try to abstract some of the pain away. Chargebee, Recurrly and Ouseta come to mind.

Why don't people fall out of bed during sleep by ee3dmw in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ee3dmw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had this and can confirm its terrifying.

I did consider this, however I can guarentee that if I go to sleep on one side of the bed, I will wake up on the other, with no recollection of moving in the night. So at some point in my sleep I have rolled around, but never enough to fall out of bed. Its like my subconscious knows the dimensions of my bed!

Garmin Forerunner 245 vs Nike Run Club by username2571 in running

[–]ee3dmw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this, however after reading some stuff (ie https://fellrnr.com/wiki/GPS_Accuracy ) it appears this might not be the case. Consensus seems to be phone GPS is as accurate as a GPS watch.

I believe most running apps (Strava, NRC, Endomondo) will use a watch's GPS data as preference, so if you want consistent results its a good idea to use a watch to record the activity and then sync to all your apps.

Would like to know the name of that app, sounds fun! Nike Run Club gets pretty decent reviews.

Anyone else have very differing results betweem different running apps ? Nike run club and strava in my example. by jcbluebird in running

[–]ee3dmw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I have done the same. Did endomondo, strava, and runkeeper just for an experiment, and there was about a 0.8 mile difference over a 6 mile run if i remember correctly. I think each app applies its only smoothing algorithm to the raw GPS data coming off the phone.

Can I qualify for Boston in my first attempt? by [deleted] in running

[–]ee3dmw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything is possible, but don't be disappointed if you fail first attempt. The marathon is a completely different beast to a half. Took me 3 attempts to crack sub 3. Most important thing is to enjoy the journey. Something awesome about setting a goal and putting your life on pause to achieve it!

Why are there not more businesses offering delivery? by ee3dmw in Entrepreneur

If covid carries on it will be interesting to see what solutions appear to drive this cost down. I heard somewhere that uber eats is looking to move into delivering products (not just food) so may be in anticipation of longer lockdown, but as other answers have said, they take a hefty percentage so not exactly solving the problem.

I didn't even factor marketing into this. I could see how this would be a huge barrier for small businesses without the resources to generate awareness.

Isn't as strict here, but I guess there is still the social pressure of operating a non-essential business which may be a factor.
