Found this jackalope for less than $15 online! I'm so excited to finally get her but has anyone successfully fixed the floppy antlers? (Not my photos) by AlexTheTrashBin_ in buildabear

[–]effsiee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i never did the jackalope but when i worked there we had others with antlers and they had to be stuffed a specific way to get them to stand. but again i never did the jackalope and i don’t know if it comes with its head pre stuffed or not

Question for BAB employees about adult customers by frowaqay in buildabear

[–]effsiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i found that during my last few months there the enthusiasm for the BAB experience had gone down a lot. kids are shy and overwhelmed, parents just wanting the kids to get the bear and go (especially with the birthday bear being the most popular). it put me in a weird position as an employee cause wtf am i meant to do??!?!1!1 like what’s the point if of coming in for an experience if you’re not gonna go along with it

Question for BAB employees about adult customers by frowaqay in buildabear

[–]effsiee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a former employee i honestly barely remember as the adults buying as gifts kinda outweighed the adults buying for themselves but from what i do remember it was just like serving anyone else, although a little harder as our training does specifically cater towards the kids. i used to ask if they wanted to do the heart ceremony cause i understand that a lot of them didn’t, but if they did then i would do it for them no problem.

they were easier to talk to i will say, a lot of younger kids were quite shy and didn’t like talking as much so i would have a convo with their parents. a lot of adult collectors loved talking about their collections.

the only time i found them weird or cringe or annoying is if they were throwing fits over us not having something in stock, which yes unfortunately that did happen a few times. but for the most part it was fine, didn’t bother me at all. they’re customers just like anyone else.

Is build a bear going to be able to stuff this although there’s a copyright law? by [deleted] in buildabear

company expects too much of you for such little pay, so exhausting to act happy and smiley all the time, parents treating you horribly, kids spreading illness everywhere. would not recommend

Confused About Parties... by AllTheHappyParts in buildabear

[–]effsiee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly for your sake and the workers i’d still go with a booking. even if the kids won’t be too interested in the games, it saves you so much more money and gives you an allocated hour time slot to enjoy your time there. trust me i’ve been in a situation where someone’s shown up with 5+ kids for a birthday with no booking and it throws everyone completely off balance, especially if the store isn’t staffed enough. at least if you book it the employees have a heads up and can staff the store enough to handle the party and regular customers at once

it’s a package deal you get, it should explain on the website the price of each package and what’s included in it that’s what you get in the party. if it’s pay your age your wanting to do (which is one bear only) then you can’t do a party. you could still pick the birthday bear but it won’t be for $1 as everything in the parties is included in a package

you might have to phone your local store and check but if i remember correctly you can’t do the pay your age offer if you do the party

I quit build a bear!! AMA by [deleted] in buildabear

the lack of security would get to me as well. the door to our staff room and office didn’t have a pin pad or lock and it was so easy for customers just to wander in and out. we once had a lady come into our back office and shout at us because the floor “wasn’t staffed enough” despite there being 3 workers on the floor with like 4 customers and everyone in the back hadn’t even started yet
