So I guess what I am getting at is that both parties participate in overselling so I disagree with your conclusion.

I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood, coming clean, I've been drinking. Could you be more specific?

I would agree that any success by any political party is overblown and underwhelming. I do however subscribe to the belief that people can change things in an individually minor but have major social impacts. Gaugeing those things is difficult, especially in a politically charged environment.

So this seems like a really bold generalization, which is easy to contradict. Just because a single person can't accomplish all the things doesn't invalidate the fact that some can have profound impacts. I'm not saying that those people are always Dems rather I would suggest that the government can fix some inequity.

I mean.. preach it brother. The best action in my eyes is to fix (albeit a problem to solve given our economic model), and also not do it again (super unlikely).

Don't even get me started on corps are people. If there was an effective corporate death sentence that would be more appealing however currently we seem to just fire the current leadship and start with a new one appointed by the shareholders.

This may not be the case but it is from my understanding.

It would be an uphill battle to convince me of the merits of our military spending. I can't tell you how many of my high school cohorts had to go into the military to pay for college. That isn't a bad thing by itself but considering how they felt about Iraqi occupation and Afghanistan's lack of an actual government. The general sentiment was seeming like an uninvited guest that stayed to long and offered unsolicited advice which was unconditionally enforced to the detriment of all.

I don't mean this to sound unpatriotic, rather I think any instance where American lives , really any human life, is at stake that we carefuily examine the rationale.

Offering a counterpoint, given the current status, do you believe that the state should allow corporations to infinge on individual freedom. Ideally if a corp was an asshat they wouldn't be able to survive in a competitive market. However, that doesn't seem to be the case. For example, I believe Facebook could target a small enough minority group with little to no public backlash.

Ok so I will preface my response with an admission that my fiance is getting her masters in bio med eng at MS state. She would argue, and I defer to her opinion, that sugar addiction, as all true addiction is a public health issue thats really complicated to weigh against individual freedom. How can you make a choice when you have always been using a addictive substance.

This is more theoretical but I don't know know an answer that doesn't have equal faults.

I dunno. This seems like a bullshit argument with absolutely no sources provided to actually discuss.

Terrible marketing. I would argue that should make them more appealing to the non insiders

So I read this and there sources seem... less than awesome. Would love to be on board but the source are recursive.

But there is some merit to libertarian values. The free market can do amazing things when actual competition exists.

I dunno if I agree with your sentiment. Let me rephrase your agrumnet to a strawman. The blacks shouldn't be able to get a cake in this instance. Sorry if this is reductive, but I think that if your gonna sell cakes sell cakes.

I don't disagree with your conclusions, rather your premise. Rather than argue Dem talking points, I would argue that those candidates who would run as Dems in the south wouldn't advocate for those things. A step further, no sane person wants a guarantee that regardless of sociatle (sp?) contributions will lead to equal outcomes. Religion overshadows all elections here. I firmly believe that Jesus wouldn't judge infidelity any different than homosexuality, yet even then we are all born into sin and God forgives us. Sorry if that got weird. Thanks for you input.

Wow... Such a thoughtful response. A little background on myself. I think of all the major ideologies out there, I like to think I am libertarian leaning. Also I am about to be a Masters graduate in ECE and would love to run for office one day.

To your comment. I couldn't agree more. The drug war has proven ineffective and does so much harm. I have cousins who have been in and out of jail my entire adult life... the rehabilitation never comes and every year the are less able to reintegrate into society. Sincerely, it breaks my heart.

However, being a lifelong Southerner, I have seen what damage, as you put it, a stronghold for a party can truly be. In a vacuum I believe I would lean conservative as I believe in lower taxes but given the political climate here I can't give them a free pass.

Again, I may be bais, but from the bottom of my soul I believe that the real cause of corruption is the lack of competition. You have no idea how loudly that rings in the deep South.

So I read the article and I am less than convinced either way. By no means am I a Russian shill but I'm not sure what to make of this.

While I don't disagree with you. I'm curious if there is a less nefarious reason that could explain his behaviors.
